Urine infection ...

I'm 25 weeks tomorrow and was up in the night with the WORST pain in my tummy/lower back. I called midwife around 7ish as it would not ease and got send to delivery. Turns out it's a bad urine infection, for which I now have antibiotics for.

Whilst there, they did a swab to see if I was going into pre-term labour - thankfully this was negative. However, they said that urine infections can cause pre-term labour and now I'm scared!

I guess I am seeing if anyone has been through anything similar and it all being ok?

Oh gosh.. how are you coping?! Honestly the pain was so bad! What antibiotics do they put you on? X

Once I started taking the antibiotics I found they kicked in within a couple of hours but I ended up being put on 5-6 courses to get rid, the last one was a 4 week course. I was on short courses of nitrofurantoin then the 4 week course was a low dose of cefalexin. The first one turned into a kidney infection as my GP surgery left me waiting too long for antibiotics, it's so important as soon as you have any symptoms to get a sample checked ASAP. I wouldn't wish the experience of the kidney infection on any one.

Have only just got to the third trimester and the exhaustion has returned. Have been pretty unwell so this might be making me feel worse but it’s hard thinking I still have 12 weeks to go and 8 weeks at work! No energy and loads of work for my MA I just can’t face due to exhaustion. Want it to be over soon!
