Is labour FINALLY beginning?!

I've been trying natural methods to help mother nature along, I've drank raspberry leaf tea since 28 weeks, eaten dates since 36 weeks, plenty of walking, squats, Clary sage oil in my baths, accupressure and have been taking EPO since 39 +1 weeks (4 days ago), but so far no luck.

I've been having BH for weeks now, but no pain, but I had 3 contractions last night, pain in my back and stomach, combined with a tight stomach, lasting about a minute each. I had two 17 minutes apart, then another about half an hour later, but then after that, just tightening with no pain.

This morning me and DH DTD and about an hour later I lost a good blob of mucus- probably about a tablespoon full. My stomach is feeling a bit like a washing machine, but I've had no more contractions.

Am I being too hopeful or are things starting to happen?!

I've had so much pressure down there that I've not been able to sit down normally for 2 or 3 weeks, plus lightning crotch, being puffy and feeling super heavy and uncomfortable and worrying that my BP is creeping up (midwife says it's fine, but I have a lot of preeclampsia in my family so slightly nervous about it) I just can't wait to meet my baby!

Ugh hang on there, hopefully something will start soon.

It's hard to say exactly, until you have regular contractions or waters go, there's no way of telling if it will take off or not.

Would you ask your midwife for a sweep at next visit? It's funny but with my first and last I did nothing to egg labour on and went early, with my middle child I didn't everything and I went over due! There's no telling, I know it's annoying but it will happen when it's ready!

My next midwife appointment is on Friday. That's my "after due date" appointment, where they'll offer me a sweep, etc to try to get things moving, if they aren't already.

Been getting loads of tightenings so far today and had another painful contraction just after 12. Going to go for a walk, then watch a soppy film on my birthing ball, see if that does anything. I'll keep you all posted!

Ah best of luck.

Walking sideways up and down the stairs is great for opening pelvis, lunges, bath to relax!

I'm a midwife, let me know if you need anything
