Gestational diabetes - what was your babies weight?!

Hi,

I'm really interested to know what everyone's babies weights were with gestational diabetes and at how many weeks they were born?

Probably should have mentioned also if you were on insulin, metformin or just diet controlled off meds ? Smile

Just over 6lbs. 38w 2 d. Diet controlled Kept being told she would be huge - she wasn't!

37.5 weeks, she was induced due to the GD, induction was fine by the way, pessary inserted them waited around for 24 hrs with a few small tightening, then they broke my waters which kick started Labour, 4 and a half hours later and a bit of Gas n Air and she was born, hale and hearty.

DD was 8lb 11oz at birth, I was on insulin by the end as fasting sugars were consistently high.

Diet controlled, no meds. 41 weeks, 3.3kg (boy).

37 weeks induced due to age and concerns re not growing. Weighed 6,10. No issues with blood sugars for either of us and I was on insulin pretty quickly with moderate control.

5lb at 36w with growth restriction. He went from the 24th percentile to the 96th by 3 months.
I was on a lot of insulin, can’t remember how much.

Baby number one born at 39 weeks and induced 5lbs 12, baby number 2 born at 37 +5 6lbs 4oz. One metformin a day right at the end of each pregnancy as blood sugars crept up

Induced because baby looked big. Had him at 38+5 and only weight 6lb 15 after all.
I was diet controlled.

3 dc with gestational diabetes in pregnancy
Dc1 born at 36 +1 weighing 5lbs diet controlled. (Refused met Forman)
Dc3 born at 39+4. Weighing 4lbs 10oz diet controlled. Was very tiny.
Dc4 born at 38 + 3 weighing 5lbs10oz insulin for my overnight fasting level as I could not control it. Diet worked during the day.
Dc2 was also tiny and no GD.

34w+1 when she arrived at 4lbs 11oz. Was on high dose insulin and metformin.

I have T2 diabetes so a bit different, but DD was 7lb 8oz and I was induced at 38+6 as my blood glucose had been controlled very well. I was on metformin from 4 months (prev diet controlled), and insulin from 6.5 months. By the end I was on 8 units novorapid at breakfast, 4 at lunch, and 8 at dinner, then 7 units levemir at night time before bed.

Wow, thanks everyone!
I started insulin on Christmas Eve and they've since put my doses up 2 times already!

My original due date is 22nd Feb, but they updated my due date at the start of December to 13th February and then I was in hospital yesterday for reduced movements and they said my most updated due date is 1st February as she's growing so large - but I have one last growth scan currently booked in on the 10th so I'm so nervous about when she will be arriving...!

My blood sugar levels are still unmanaged even with insulin - it's mainly my fasting levels which is causing the issues, plus I've been getting a few hypos middle of the day which also isn't great!!

GD is so confusing isn't it!!

I had to put my insulin up every single day for 10 weeks. I had perfect dietary control but my fasting sugar was always too high. I was in hospital for a while before the birth and I remember the consultant coming to find me at midnight to tell me to inject some more to be ready to have the baby the next morning. Baby was ridiculously healthy and has had no problems.

If you have to go early and may need a section. Ask them to give you steroids

37w + 1d. 6lb 3oz

I had my evening insulin increased to 132 units by the end and I was also taking metformin morning and evening and 12 units of insulin with meals. I chased my fasting numbers for my whole pregnancy. My diet was great and no issues with numbers other than the fasting. It's so hard isn't it!

I had GD my babies all born at 37 weeks. 7.9,9.1and 9.11.All elcs and absolutely fine !

35 exactly, induced due to obstetric cholestasis, 6lb10, diet controlled

DD was born at 40+2, induced due to breathing difficulties. Diet controlled GD, she was 10lbs 4oz.

DS was born at 37 weeks exactly, ELCS. GD controlled with overnight insulin. He was 8lbs 7oz.
