Hello

I am suffering terribly with acid reflux & indigestion. I am only 11+4 weeks & was doing ok on Metoclopramide to handle my nausea but over the past several days my acid reflux seems to have turned even more severe

I had GERD prior to pregnancy & it’s never been this bad. Thankfully i don’t get the burning feeling in my chest but i do however feel my food coming back up, gurgling in my throat, terrible bitter taste in my mouth & near constant burping. Has anybody else suffered the same so early on in pregnancy & what did you do to get a hold on it?

I started with Omeprazole today but was sick almost immediately. Also tried peptac, rennies, milk, ginger, peppermint, plain foods

I’m just concerned the burping & sour taste etc could be caused by something more sinister - i suffer with health anxiety so I’m constantly worried. Any reassurance would be much appreciated, doctors won’t do anything as im managing to keep fluids down but not eating. Thank you

No advice I'm afraid as I'm in same boat. I'm 15 weeks but have had it since early on and also suffer with GERD when not pregnant anyway. I am on omeprazole and I take gaviscon but neither seem to do much to alleviate symptoms, and I seem to get it regardless of what I eat. I have a midwife appointment next week so will see what she says. I'm with you on the health anxiety too, but I know it is quite common so I try not to worry about it too much, but I do have thoughts of what if it's something more sinister etc. And also thinking how much worse is it going to get as baby takes up more space.

Hope you manage to find some relief soon!

Thank you so much for replying. In all honesty i was looking for reassurance more than anything that it isn’t just me. I stupidly googled the burping etc & all sorts of stuff came up, of course so did pregnancy but the logical part of your brain sort of hides away when you have health anxiety

Im so sorry you’re suffering too. It really isn’t nice. I hope you feel better soon xx

It is so hard not to worry isn't it. I'll come back and let you know if my midwife had any words of wisdom next week.

I am my own worst enemy, though, I've just ordered an Indian takeaway!

Take care and feel better soon xx
