Hi
I am now 10 wks pregnant with baby number 6.
I have 4 ds and 1 dd already.
Had unplanned pregnancy earlier this year that ended in miscarriage. All of my pregnancies have been plaaned except this one and when the miscarriage happened we decided to try for baby number 6 even though we had previously decided to stop.

I am really looking forward to having another baby although at the moment I feel terrible.....sick, tired, headaches - all thing I have been luck enough to avoid in other pregnancies. I have had 2 scans and everything seems fine.

How to I get through Christmas with 5 kids fro 15 to 2 feeling like this?

Help????

I have no idea, I struggle with two!!
But just wanted to say congratulations and I wish you a safe and happy pregnancy xxx

oxocube · 22/12/2007 07:59

You mad woman you . Congratulations. I always wanted loads of kids but ended up with three - six sounds terribly exciting but bonkers !!!!!!! Hope you feel better once you hit the 3 month marker!

I think you should count your lucky stars you got away with none of it for the first 5

I used to have all day and night sickness. It eased about 14 weeks, I used to drink lots of ice cold water, peppermint tea, ginger ale, and eat ginger nut biscuits ( icarried a tube around with me everywhere) as good as dry crackers imo and a lot tastier, and polo mints, not too strong but again peppermint goooooooooooood.
The tiredness you just kind of have to rest when you can. I found this difficult with dd2 as had dd1 there, so no advice on h ow you would do this with 5 others.

BTW I also think you're MAD, but congratulations

I would suggest enlisting the help of your older dc as much as possible. Pay them if necessary and explain it will probably only be for the next few weeks, then you'll start to fell better (we hope!). It will be good practice for after the baby comes.

lyra41 · 22/12/2007 08:45

ooh and big Congratulations too! I'd love another dc, but dh has drawn the line at 3.

thefabfour · 23/12/2007 23:18

SS -congratualtions!!

I would just do the minimum possible to get through.

I have four DC's ranging in age from 5.5yrs to 7 months. My last pregnancy was accidental and i found it a challenge to cope with the pregnancy, my other three and a part-time job.

I really cut down on my outside commitments, shopped online and used a slow cooker as you can prepare food the night before. Can't say I wasn't knackered but I worked through to the last week of the pregnancy.

Could you get the older children to help? Could you get pre-prepared food? Go to relatives for the christmas period?

janeite · 23/12/2007 23:24

I was sick constantly for the first 4 months with both pregnancies (to the point of being hospitalised each time). The only thing that I found helped in the slightest was orange ice lollies.

Congratulations by the way - mad but amazing I think!

christmascrackerboldy · 23/12/2007 23:54

congratulations!!!

I have 5 dc. my last pg was hard - i had terrible morning sickness all the way through. I was even sick on the morning I gave birth, and i actually forgot what it felt like not to feel sick iykwim?

just remember, they are worth it in the end!!!

gigglewitchyouamerrychristmas · 24/12/2007 00:17

you must be crackers (well it is christmas)

congrats!!
can you persuade the bigger ones to keep the smaller ones amused? those in the middle usually sort themselves out...
I feel like i am the old woman of the 'lived in a shoe' fame, and i only have three.
i take my father christmas hat off to you.
Eat ginger biscuits, try pepermint tea... snack lots. I cant believe that at no6 you are asking for advice!!

wessexgirl · 24/12/2007 00:19

Aw, congrats! Yes, ginger biscuits and lay off the buttery/fatty stuff. Anything minty is good, and offload the weans whenever you can.

Best of luck!

Tired though but that's normal......ds - no.5 age 2 has been up since 4am....over excited and over tired yesterday having a knock on effect.
Anyway oldest ds (age 15) was superb yesterday even organising his siblings to tidy kitchen whilr I had a snooze and dh took little ones for a walk....great family and number 6 will jst make it even bettter!!!

Thanks to all for congrats and advice ...hope you all had a good day! Salted panuts and crisps are great for chasing sicky feeling away.

Have a fab new year ,,,,,,,,,,

Glad you're feeling better

I had awful M/s during my (two ) pregnancies. Tis the worst! fwiw I really don't think you're mad having six, I am totally envious in fact! Big families are wonderful.

Wishing you a great new year!

lumpybumpymummy · 28/12/2007 21:40

finallypregnant · 28/12/2007 21:43

The way I have been feeling I don't know why anyone does it more than once! Congratulations and all the very best to you and your family!

karney · 29/12/2007 11:35

Congratulations and well done for getting through Christmas. I'm 6wks pregnant and suffering the most horrible nausea and sickness. I've had 3 m/cs and never had these symptoms wth previous pregnancies. I had a scan yesterday and all seems well so far. I don't have any kids so i can afford the luxury of lying down when the symptoms get a bit much. Anyway my doc says its a good sign that I feel this way so I'm just hanging on to that for positivity. Will try all the remedies suggested by you all for m/s. At the moment I'm on water and oranges and a lot of moaning to my d/p. Have a happy new year everyone.

ScottishSusan · 30/12/2007 08:04

Congratulations karney on pregnancy....yes morning sickness is viewed as a good sign...shows all the pregnancy hormones are there and doing their job. It doesn't make you feel better though does it.
Try something salty ...nuts or crisps when feeling sick...it works for me... good luck!
