Sore bump in third trimester

I’m 36 weeks, and I’ve been finding the last couple of days my bump is really sore. It’s fine when sitting, but when I move about it feels like a tearing sensation or like I’ve pulled a muscle. It’s worse on the side where my baby likes to lie (they like to lie on the left and kick out to the right).

I’ve had SPD since about 20 weeks, so I’m used to being in pain, but this feels different. Basically is this normal and is it likely to just be the weight of baby making my bump sore?
I don’t have a contact number for my community midwife, and I’m not sure if this is a bit minor for calling triage about! Baby is otherwise happy and moving around as normal!

I had/have exactly the same in my third and now fourth pregnancy. Started about 28 weeks for me, like a deep, painful ache of my lower bump whenever I walked/stood up for longer than 5 minutes! Like you it seemed worse on the side baby lay on. Went away once I'd sat down for a bit, and completely went away once I'd given birth to my third. Hoping for the same this time.

No idea what it is, I just assumed muscular/ligament related. I never got any answers 🤷🏻‍♀️
Bloody painful though, I sympathise!

Ligament pain?

Eumy · 01/01/2022 15:33

That’s reassuring to hear it went away after birth! I’m not sure if it’s ligament pain, it feels so high up, but it could be! I guess I don’t really know where the ligament is.

I’ve been trying to encourage baby to move over/engage but they seem to be so happy in their one spot. They’re been consistently in the same spot since 28 weeks lol!

I also have something similar to this. Just assumed it was normal aches and pains related to having an extra two stone in weight on my middle!

I had similar in the late second trimester. Try doing some bump massages with oil and warm hands and make sure your posture is good. A bump support band might help.

It could be ligament pain, is it quite low down?
I've been having this terribly in the past few days, I'm okay as long as I don't move!
