How to request to speak to a consultant on NHS

Hi everyone. I had my 20 week scan recently and several issues with growth were flagged up. I left the appointment with lots of unanswered questions. Sonographer mentioned that I need further monitoring but I’ve heard nothing back. I’ve called midwives and team leader but they all basically fobbed me off and said to wait for next midwife app (in 6 weeks). Does anyone know how I could go about getting access to a consultant via the NHS to answer some questions? And take a second look at my scan report? I know I could go private but don’t have the funds for that at the moment unfortunately.

You would need one of the midwives to refer you to see an obstetrician.

Are you booked for Consultant care? Or midwife led?

I was transferred from midwife unit care to Consultant care with DS1 because of high BP & then just automatically booked with a Consultant for DC2 & DC3.

I'm pretty sure a midwife at the initial maternity unit arranged it.

You can't just request it unless you go private due to demand. I'd suggest ringing a midwife or speaking to them next time you have an appointment. If they thought you'd warrant consultant care they should have referred you.
