Early labour.. stopped

So I am now 38+1 weeks.

At 36+6 I had contractions through the night, starting as back pain and period pain around 9pm and by 3am they were varying from 5 mins apart up to 10 mins apart, lasting usually 60 seconds.

It all seemed to stop by the morning.

37+1 I lost the plug, or at least some of it, but not bloody.

37+3 was Christmas Day and I was so anxious whether I would end up with a Christmas baby Xmas Blush ... but nothing happened.

Since last week's signs, there's been nada! Just cramps occasionally. The head is engaged, had thought I was going to have an early baby, now have no idea when things are going to pick up again.

How long did you have from first signs until labour starting properly?

Oof, I've heard it can draw out :( I'm not due until later this week but I was hoping for an early surprise!

I had 2 weeks of stop start latent labour with my second, it's called prodromal labour, have a check online. I was really fed up by the time I actually went into labour and didn't really believe it was happening as I thought it was all going to stop again Grin However my actual labour was quick compared to my first, under 3 hours. Some speculate that a longer latent labour can result in a quicker active labour Smile

I have read all about prodromal labour since realising that's what it was!!! I can't believe there is another thing that I completely didn't know about (I've had two children already lol!). I reckon I'll be okay for another week or so. I'm quite enjoying this relaxed pace with nice food and sleep and no guilt!!!! Very keen to meet the little chap though, of course!
