We have decided on a name, just need to decide on how it will be spelt.

We have chosen Eloise/Elouise. I hate the way the name looks written down, so if anybody knows another way of spelling it, please do tell! Just love the name. I work in a school so had alot of trouble working out a name that didnt link back to a child at the school.

PoinsettiaBouquets · 21/12/2007 17:51

We have a boy's name and I'm only 6wks! Mind we have had it for months - it's the only name I love that DH doesn't hate.
Surprised to find we have a handful of possibles for a girl, bound to change though.
Chloemegjess - how about the French way (pronounced the same)- Heloise?

ninedragons · 22/12/2007 05:05

We've got a very short list of names we like and we're going to wait until she pops out to see which one fits.

We did a really good job of naming the cat (his name suits him bizarrely well) and now we are worried that we won't be able to repeat the feat.

I've got one name I love but husband doesn't. My boss told me to let him see me before the epidural kicks in and ask him then. That's what she did with her DD1.

BellaBear · 22/12/2007 08:45

Chloemegjess - you could spell it Heloise - you don't pronounce the 'H', it's the French way. Looks tres swish! Lovely name, by the way. But Elouise isn't right at all (as a proper name thing, but then it isn't any of my business how you spell your daughter's name!)

BellaBear · 22/12/2007 08:46

I do have names for both goy and girl worked out but I'm not saying anything until after it is birn so no one will tell me they don't like it!

BellaBear · 22/12/2007 08:47

Poinsettia - didn't read your post properly!

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 22/12/2007 09:00

My niece is Eloise - I think it is a very pretty name
Me and DH have a boy's name and a girl's name picked out for our lo. But we are keeping schtum - not even our parents know!

Pheebe · 22/12/2007 11:38

We named both our ds's in the delivery room. DH named ds1 jack which i didn't like at the time but I can't imaging him being called anything else now. i named ds2 ben which dh didn't like but he admits he can't imagine what other name would fit him now (he's 6 weeks old)
I;d say don't tie yourself to anything and dont feel you have to stick to a name just cos thats what you've told everyone
good luck everyone

LoveAngelGabriel · 22/12/2007 11:41

Eloise is the nicest speeling, I think. Elodie is also a lovely name. I am not pregnant btw , but ttc no2 and love name threads.

finallypregnant · 22/12/2007 18:22

We have a boys name and have done for a week while. Can't agree or come up with a girl's name that we both love though. Got plenty of time as only 14 weeks.

babycarrier · 24/12/2007 23:51

i new a boys name would be jack from 6wks but still dont know about a girls name i was thinking of daisy or may spelt(mae) cos baby due in may but thats to original i like to be different

daisynova · 27/12/2007 12:17

We had a girls name from the outset but now we know we are having a boy and we just can't find anything that we like!

BroccoliSpears · 27/12/2007 12:18

Yup. Boy's name for definite.
A couple of variations for a girl, depending on what she's like when we meet her.

minspugs · 27/12/2007 12:26

im pg wih dd3 and have a few names that i like. with dd1 we had a name as soon as we found out she was a girl (ella) . with dd2 we didnt find out what she was and i changed my mind about names the day before she was born from eve to amelia. think this one will be lucy. always had the same boys name (william) just never got chance to use it.

KelaS · 27/12/2007 17:43

I have 3 names picked out for each sex, we will decide once we see it - want to make sure the name fits iyswim

Lazylou · 27/12/2007 17:49

DH and I have agreed on Daniel for a boy but are yet to decide on a name for a girl, although I love Caitlin. We have agreed on Daniel since we found out I was pg, I'm 18 weeks now.

PurlyQueen · 27/12/2007 19:34

Pretty sure about a girl's name (Mia). No idea about boys' names, so we're going to wait to see what comes out!

pussycatmomma · 27/12/2007 19:47

gosh you all sound so organised!!!
im 36 weeks, and whilst dh and I have some names we are mulling over, we just can not decide!
im like the other lady who mentioned her cat - all my cats suit their names perfectly, and our dog too, despite him coming to us "ready-named"! Shame they dont do that with babies, it would save us all so much botheration!!!!
We dont know if baby is a boy or girl.
For boys, we always loved the name Oscar, despite our families not liking it (my father in law told us it sounded like a dogs name!!) That was until about a week or so ago when my mum announced to us that a baby in Eastenders had been named Oscar - its really taken the shine off it for us. We liked it cause it was slighly unusual, but now feel its going to become tres popular how annoying.
Other names we like are Noah and Reuben. As my dh is insisting on 2 middle names, God knows why, it is even more difficult.
For girls we like (in no particular order) Amelie, Isabelle, Poppy, Daisy, and Alice. Again we have the same quandry about the 2 middle names thing. So in effect we have to decide on 3 beautiful names that all fit together, where the initials dont spell anything or mean anything, that sound right, and are popular without being too popular!
STRESS!!!!!!!!!!

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 27/12/2007 20:05

Well i'm 39 weeks today and nope no names... have some in the back of my mind that I know DP doesn't like lol.

Ffion for a girl
DP likes Aaliyah

I want Matthew or Matty for a boy
DP wants Anthony or Charles or Micheal!?

So no names as no agreements. lol

tyaca · 27/12/2007 20:10

ours was names before we even found out at 20wk scan that she's a girl.

she is called by her name all the time (am now 31wks) and even grandparents etc have given up refering to her as the bump etc and now call her by her name

snooks · 27/12/2007 20:40

Pussycat we really loved Oscar too (for ds2 now 18 months) but settled on Felix. For dd3 (that's the first time I've written dd!) we like Poppy also, however I'm now 22 weeks and THINK we've settled on Pearl.

I love name threads too

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 27/12/2007 20:49

cmj - you could just go with Elise if it's the 'o' that makes you dislike the name written down.

SKF · 27/12/2007 21:53

I love the name Pearl, snooks. I might suggest that to dh, although so far we havn't been able to agree on any names at all.

Plenty of time though, I am only 9 weeks!

denbury · 27/12/2007 22:04

we had no name for our first child. i called him benjamin when i saw him. had to decide on a name for number 2 before hubby went to sea as he was due to be at sea on due date(he's in the navy).have stuck to both names and love them both.i would spell elouise as that.spell it a weird way and no-one will spell it right and would you then get upset?
