What essential things do I need to get for baby number 3?

I went ott with my first born but that was 9 years ago and I'm trying to think of what I actually need.

My list so far consists of

Moses basket
Pram
Car seat
Changing mat
Nappies/wipes/bags
Nappy cream
Muslins
Clothes

I would get a next to me type crib instead of a Moses basket. If you choose a pram that’s safe for overnight sleeping you can use that indoors instead of a Moses basket downstairs. Also I would get a nice sling- with number 3 I used it all the time as we were always out and about with the others. Other things I can think of are a playmat and bouncy chair. Sleeping bags/ swaddles. And a good coffee machine for you!!!

Do you intend to breastfeed? If not bottles/steriliser.

Probably nothing if we're being pragmatic, but I could add...

Baby towel(s) (yep of course you can use existing towels, but I like the ones with hooded corners)

Linen for Moses basket
Sleeping bag

Blankets for the floor, pram, car seat

Foot muff for the pram (depends when due I guess though)

Cot, but you don't need to get it right now)

Clothes-does that include vests, scratch mits, hats, booties (ha ha can you tell I'm chilly??)

Baby nail clippers (I don't like biting them or using adult ones)

Thermometer

Bath thermometer (prefer it to my elbow!)

Baby wash?

Do you need to buy all new?
Have you not got a Oran from the last two??

wallysally · 29/12/2021 20:05

Pram not Oran

HarrysMummy17 · 29/12/2021 20:12

Thanks for the ideas.

The Moses basket and Pram from the first 2 went mouldy in storage so they had to be thrown away.

I like the idea of a next to me crib. Need to try and figure out if I can fit it in as it will be behind the door so not sure we can get in and out of the room. Bed is already pushed to the wall on partners side 😒.

I've got lots of vacuum sealed bags in the loft with early clothes, hats, blankets, towels, mits etc so need to sort through those.

Will be breast feeding but like to express for out and about sometimes.

I got a sling and a carrier with baby 2. I struggled with the sling but still have it so will give it another go.

I'm hoping I won't need to but I don't think the 3 of them will all fit in the current car!

Which sling do you have? The sling library in my area hires out new born slings for £10 for 3 months.

MerryChristmas21 · 29/12/2021 22:02

I'm very excited for you! I'd have all those bags & bits down by now 😂

To be honest I can't actually remember! I'll have a look at sling libraries

I wish I had the space! When the Christmas stuff goes up I'll start. Baby isn't due until June (but will more likely be May) so I've got time! Need to clear some of my clothes out to make way for baby stuff!
