Is labour coming? Only 35 weeks

I'm 35 weeks and had a small bit of what I think was my mucus plug come out today and yesterday.
I've been having lots of braxton hicks - 8 times within an hour lasting approx 30 seconds, uncomfortable but not painful.
Also experiencing period like cramps in the lower pelvis and lower back which is intermittent but no pattern to it.

Could this be a sign labour is approaching?

What were the first signs for you?

DC1 was very similar for me. Have you timed the contractions just to make sure they're not coming at regular intervals?

Call your labour ward and ask, they should know.

I had first signs with my first: bad cramps, plug coming away. So yes, the same. I didn't have my waters break with either one.

No pattern to the contractions.
I rang the midwife and she said if they become more intense or painful or very close together to come in for assessment.
I suppose I'll just be on high alert until that happens!
