I'm due on tomorrow, and can tell I'm not feeling the same as usual. We decided to start trying for a baby just before Xmas and I think we may have been lucky and it's happened first go.
I need to lose just a few pounds to be happy with my weight.. I guess I just want to know if it's possible to lose a bit of weight in the first trimester? And if any other ladies on here have managed it?

Or, if it's not a good idea..thank all.

I want to do the same (and 6 weeks pregnant)…I am planning to eat healthily in Jan and see what happens.

Yes I have a friend who was obese. She lost weight during her pregnancy and ended up weighing less!

To be honest if you get any pregnancy sickness or nausea you'll lose it without trying! I lost weight in my first trimester because I couldn't really eat much. It's best not to diet or reduce food intake if you can eat though - your body needs energy to grow your tiny human so eating healthy and getting exercise is your best bet and the healthiest lifestyle for pregnancy anyway!

You will definitely still gain weight in pregnancy although a lot will be the weight of the baby, the placenta, water, and the extra 50% of blood volume that will be pumping around your body. Hope you get your BFP soon Flowers

It can go both ways. If you struggle badly with sickness you're probably going to lose a bit, or you may be one of those who need to keep eating to keep the nausea at bay.

I had to eat little and often in first trimester, otherwise I felt like shit. However, because I was unable to eat big portions I think my overall food intake was lower than pre-pregnancy. Activity levels were lower too though. In the end I don't think I put on much actual weight though, but I was really bloated and felt fat, most of the weight I've gained I suspect is fluid retention and will flush out when I'm no longer pregnant.

My advice is to try to not stress about it, it is what it is, and any weight you may put on will quickly fall off again once baby arrives.

Honestly if you get morning sickness its completely possible.. lol...

I lost half a stone in my first trimester due to morning sickness and food aversions!

Yes definitely possible (morning sickness dependent - you might not feel any different though I didn't!) You don't need any extra calories during the first 2 trimesters and even in the third, only a couple of hundred. So you can focus on eating healthy and be fine.

I don’t think you can actively plan for this. I felt sick constantly for the first 20 weeks with both mine. The first time I lost a few pounds in the first trimester because I couldn’t face much food. The second I piled the pounds on because constantly eating was the only thing that helped me feel better.
