Hi guys,

So I found out I'm pregnant on Christmas Eve (so happy) but I'm just wondering if any mums or expected mums know of any apps to calm you during pregnancy / labour. I know it's early as I'm only 5 weeks but want to be as prepared as possible and calm throughout my pregnancy!

Thanks in advance!

The Freya app is really good. It has calming music, affirmations if you want, but you can switch these off, and it has a timer you can press when you get contractions that will count to help you with deep breathing to manage the pain.

I find the backing music the app uses very relaxing and good for doing breathing exercises to.

I use sprout it tracks your weeks and you can write in a little diary. It tells you helpful info and you can ‘see the fetus’ growing each week. That calms me down as I feel I can see the progress each week and it has gone fast as a result. I am 27 weeks now. I log on most nights and have a little look. I also got My Baby Heart rate which claims to help you monitor heart beats from about 8-9 weeks. Not entirely sure how accurate it is, but I thought I could hear the heartbeat and it helped me through tricky moments when I was very anxious in the first trimester. It gets a lot easier but that first 12 weeks is hard until you have seen it on the scan. Unless you go for an early scan but I would not recommend that unless you have to - it’s not recommended until 10 weeks I think unless there is a clinical requirement. Good luck!
