Bv in pregnancy?

Hi guys. I'm currently 18+2. I had a urine sample taken last weight weight an appointment and they found something in it but said it was likely just mixed with discharge. They tested it and found I didn't have a urine infection. But now I've realised there is a bit of an odour down below. Not offensive but a bit fishy/musty. I shower every day. Having read that untreated bv can cause miscarriage, low birth weight and premature labour, I'm freaking out. I'm going to call the docs today but I'm just hoping I've not left it too long. I noticed an odour at my 16 week appointment but just thought it was sweat/discharge. It'll take a few days to get the results of swabs too, so I'm panicking that it's already harming my baby.

Did anyone else have bv in pregnancy and was it OK?

Hello. I’m only 5.5 weeks and I knew I had BV a couple of days after I found out, I rang the GP who prescribed me antibiotics but said not to take them until I am in my second trimester. I then said ‘but I’ve read it can cause issues like early miscarriage etc so shouldn’t I just take it now as the second trimester is 3 months away!!’ He was like ‘no, you’ll be absolutely fine, it’s in the third trimester it can cause difficulties as it can lead to premature labour.’ He said it tends to clear up on its own most of the time too.

Honestly, please don’t worry/ panic. Your baby will be absolutkry fine I’m sure. Ring your GP and ask for swabs/ some antibiotics and it’ll all be cleared up in a few days.

Yep, the chances of it causing those things is very rare but getting it treated will completely solve the problem.

Yeah I'll call my Dr today. Better safe than sorry I think.
