Put on 2kg, midwife hasn’t weighed me at all

Hi all, I’m a first time mum and first time poster! I’m 26 weeks and 3 days, I saw a post about a mum gaining 8kg at 26 weeks, and I’m now worried I haven’t really gained any extra weight! But also I’ve only had 2 midwife appointments and they didn’t weigh me at either, I think my only weighing I had was at my booking appointment way back at 6 weeks! Should I be worried? Thanks mums :) x

Congratulations what an exciting time! I was only weighed at booking in. I think as long as all scans and fundal measurements are fine they wont, so dont worry xxx

They don’t weigh you normally and my midwife told me never to weigh myself so I have no idea how much weight I put on last time or this time - I feel about the same size, if not bigger this time, but I know that this baby is actually much smaller than my first as I have had growth scans both times. I think they use your booking weight to calculate how much pain relief to give you in labour etc but they don’t use it to check on baby’s size - they do that by fundal height and growth scans if fundal height is out with normal range.

Hi @Cantgetausername87 exciting times indeed! Thank you so much! Yes all scans and measurements are fine so that puts my mind at rest and so does your reply ! Smile :)

I was only weighed at booking for both my pregnancies. I think it's normal.

Amijustagrump · 28/12/2021 16:07

I wouldn't worry due to HG I've only just hit my booking in weight again at 35 weeks! Scans and measurements are more important than scales

I don’t promise that’s true re booking weight and meds but when I went to labour ward they wrote my booking weight on the board and I said that it was no way right anymore and I think that’s what the midwife said!

So long as baby is measuring well, I wouldn't worry about it.

A lot of women use pregnancy as an excuse to over eat, so naturally there'll be differences in weight gains
