Started looking at about 23 weeks. Delivery for just shy of 33 weeks. Have birth at 34 weeks lol

When the stuff you want is on sale! I bought my pram at 8 weeks as it was half price!

I left it quite late. Started looking around 30 weeks & collected at 35 weeks I think. Didn't want to be cluttering up the house for longer than necessary & was very hesitant about buying baby things. I'm not superstitious normally but just felt it was a bad omen if I were to rush out and buy everything too early.

I bought my pram at 16 weeks because there were some big delays on the pram we wanted - we only received delivery of our pram last week (35 weeks pregnant).

We did buy our pram from an independent store but I have heard bigger stores don’t have such bad delivery issues - I’d say just ask for an ETA on delivery if you buy anything new!

Chose our pram at around 30 weeks, dh collected it a day or so after dd was born at 40 ish weeks.
I was very superstitious regarding pregnancy (after loss) and didn’t want it anywhere near me until dc had arrived.

I bought my pushchair at around 32 weeks as it was on a good Black Friday offer. The first time round I got my pushchair at about 28 weeks because it was hard to find the one I wanted in stock.
I bought the bedside cot and other bits the same time as the pushchair this time because Black Friday meant there were good deals. It also felt close enough that having the boxes to store wasn’t such a pain.

It’s worth baring in mind that this year there is likely to be more stock shortages and longer delivery times so it might be worth looking at what you want and finding out the delivery scales

I’m 22 weeks and we got some lovely little bits for Christmas from family but we haven’t bought anything yet, I’ve just started doing my research.

I gently told family not to buy anything until after the 20 week scan, and I don’t feel ready to actually buy things yet - part of me doesn’t want to buy too early in case anything goes wrong (first pregnancy and I’m always anxious) and also I don’t want the baby things cluttering up the house, we only moved in November and there are still a few little things that need doing.

It’s good to know that you can arrange pram delivery for further along, I think I’ll start buying stuff properly when I enter the third trimester but for now I’m enjoying looking 😊

I think I started getting things from about 16 weeks on. DD was born at 33 weeks so I was glad we hadn't left it too late.

Fallagain · 28/12/2021 07:42

You don’t need nursery furniture just normal furniture and probably a cot (although my kids wouldn’t sleep in one).

Totalwasteofpaper · 28/12/2021 07:50

16 weeks I started researching and got the pram at 20. Did an ikea shop after 20 week scan for furniture as there are long wait times for some things.

I am 30 weeks and we have pretty much everything Inc high chair jumperoo etc. Picked up all clothes in sales and have a good selection for up to 1 year.

My mother thought I was insane but I didnt care... she now thinks I am a genius.
Baby is due in Feb (I am working to 37 weeks will need to have baby at 38 -39) and I knew time would run away from me because of Christmas, as it is I am knackered already.
Super happy I did the bulk in 2nd trimester

EurghCobwebs · 29/12/2021 10:45

We did ours at 20 weeks as our friend's who had a baby a few months before advised that there were very long lead times for some brands due to Covid/brexit.

When we went to the shop and ordered ours they told us that the delivery times are changing all the time. It's just like sofas atm I guess, we were told 24 week lead times for some sofas, the lead times are fluctuating all the time.

Scirocco · 29/12/2021 12:12

Black Friday and Boxing Day/January sales! Also if there are sales in shops you like. Baby stuff is expensive, so any saving opportunity should be seized with both hands. We haven't set everything up yet (haven't worked up the courage for that!) but knowing we have the big things ready and didn't go bankrupt doing so has been a relief.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 29/12/2021 12:15

We went to ikea for a cot, normal chest of drawers and a bookcase at about 26 weeks. Built them around 36 weeks.

Pushchair we wanted one which was just always kept in stock at Mothercare so didnt need to pre order. Got that about 34 weeks.

Epli · 29/12/2021 15:10

I am 24w. I am planning to buy/order majority of things by the end of Jan. From what I see there are some prams have a delivery waiting period of 1-2 months and I some other stuff I plan to buy second hand, so it obviously takes some time to hunt it down. I want to be done with majority of the thing by mid Feb, since I expect the last two months I will have very little energy for anything.
