Covid experience 35 weeks pregnant

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help.
I have tested positive for covid at 35 weeks pregnant and would say I am on day three of actual noticeable symptoms (cough, sore throat, shortness of breath and fatigue).
Has anyone else tested so close to the end of their pregnancy and if so, how long were they unwell for in total? I am due to be induced in 13 days as I also have GD. Also curious for those who have also tested positive for covid, did the rest of your household/family also then go on to catch the virus? I live with my husband and two young children and I'm concerned that they will also catch it now in the run up of my upcoming induction Thanks in advance.

A close friend of mine was 31 weeks when she got unwell with covid. She got severely short of breath and had to spend a few nights in hospital on oxygen, and needed blood thinning injections.
She took ages to recover, her baby is now 5 weeks old but she is still so breathless trying to walk any distance.
She had only had 1 jab when she caught covid (had her 2nd booked for the week after she got unwell sadly), a lot depends on how many jabs you've had and how recently.
My best advice is to keep as active as possible at home and drink plenty or water. You'll also need to call your midwife to adjust your clot risk assessment to see if you need blood thinning injections at home.
Hope you're feeling better soon

Thank you for you reply and advice. I have also only had one jab, your poor friend. My breathing was worse yesterday and quite worrying at times but much better today. Hopefully I am on the mend but have been given an oximeter and have to check in twice daily with a virtual covid ward. At least they are keeping an eye on me.

Hi OP
I was wondering how things panned out for you and what your experience was? How are you feeling now? I was 35 weeks yesterday and tested Saturday as i had a cough and it was negative. Tested again today as still have a cough and its positive. I’m double jabbed and had the booster about 5/6 weeks ago but I’m absolutely petrified. I have a high BMI too 😩😩.

Hi, I'm much better now thank you! I had 3 days of feeling unwell with breathlessness but other than that I mainly just had cold symptoms and felt much better by day 5. I had to check in with a virtual covid ward online daily and provide oxygen readings but there was never any concern. I have been more unwell in the past with the flu while pregnant 4 years ago, and also when I had tonsillitis a few years back. My husband has tested daily since Xmas eve and touch wood avoided it, so have my children. We haven't isolated from one another at all. Try not to be scared, I would definitely speak to your midwife if you haven't already, they should provide you with an oximeter to keep an eye on your oxygen saturation levels to be extra cautious. I was so scared at first but honestly, it's been fine. Me and baby are ok and still due to be induced at the weekend. Best of luck x

@Bunny2607 I had Covid when I was 30 weeks pregnant. Had mild symptoms for a week. I was terrified, but honestly, it was manageble. We haven't isolated with my husband as I only find out I had Covid on day 4 ( thought I had a weird cold). He didn't get it (both of us double jabbed). Try not to worry, it won't effect the baby. Keep an eye on the baby movement and your oxygen level. If you worried, give your hospital a call. They must see you, even if you have the Covid!

Thank you both! Glad to hear you both got through without any major problems and good luck with the induction OP!
I’m going to use Saturday as day 1 as thats when i started coughing, so today is day 4. I feel ok, just got a slight runny nose and abit of a cough. Feel fine otherwise. I’m going to the hospital tonight at 6 for blood pressure check and they’re going to listen to baby too and give me a once over i think so fingers crossed all is fine!
