20 weeks pregnant- all baby kicks very low down

For the past week and a half I’ve been feeling little baby kicks that have been getting stronger and more frequent, however all of them have been very low down. Like around my pubic hair line.

Is this normal?

Thanks everyone 🙂 and Merry Christmas!

Totally normal, kicks will get higher as the baby grows and moves upwards to get more space. The low kicks were always the weirdest, but enjoy it while it lasts because the rib kicks are sometimes painful Grin

Where did you expect them to be at 20 weeks?

chelle0 · 26/12/2021 08:53

@Garman that isn't particularly helpful is it?

Yes OP, perfectly normal. Baby is still quite small, as they grow you'll feel them higher up

SweetBabyCheeses99 · 26/12/2021 09:10

Yes defo! Don’t forget your baby moves around too so you will feel kicks, punches, rolls and hiccups in different places!

Yep, normal. I'm 32 weeks and still fairly low, although I am noticing them creeping higher now. Smile

My midwife told me that at around 20 weeks the top of your uterus is only around your belly button.
So the baby could literally only be kicking below your belly button anyway at this stage and likely to still be breech/transverse so legs down in the pubic area.
They're also still really quite small at 20 weeks.
I'm 31 weeks and baby is still breech/transverse so still only feel kicks in the pubic area/bladder though I can feel the head moving around & above my belly button. I'll be expecting to only feels kicks up high when the baby goes head down.

With our last I could only feel movement low down, turned out I had an anterior placenta at my anomaly scan. As baby grew the placenta moved and I felt movement in different areas, by 31+5wk scan placenta was in the fundal position and we could see her moving all over bump.

Of course its normal baby is tiny and very low still at 20 weeks x
