Bleeding and cramps 15 weeks

I had light blood earlier in the afternoon, after I wiped when i peed, so phoned maternity unity who told me to go in. Midwife checked and heard heartbeat so wasn’t worried, then seen Dr has a speculum inserted twice and they only found discharge. I also had a anti D injection as they found I was rhesus negative.

Came back home and took of my knickers to find them covered in watery blood, and I’ve since put on a pad, still bleeding, had cramps all the time I was waiting for Dr too. Phoned unit again and they said phone them back if full pad like period.

Could the speculum have caused the subsequent bleeding? Can something bad happen after the heartbeat being heard and sounding normal? Can anyone give me any reassurance? Thank you so much.

Yes a speculum and people poking around can make you bleed. My midwife told me light bleeding is very common because there's so much more blood inside you while pregnant, if your doc knocked your cervix it is possible some blood cells were disturbed. I actually had this with my first pregnancy, as long as the cervix is firmly shut and baby's heartbeat normal there shouldn't be anything to worry about. If bleeding gets heavier you do need to contact the unit again though. Good luck xx

@CaMePlaitPas thank you for your response, my bleeding is light and watery at the moment, stomach still crampy however. I’m trying not to worry and hoping for the best.

i had really heavy bleeding bright red when i was 12 weeks pregnant. i had to put hand towel to reach hospital , even doctors were convinced from bleeding i lost my baby.
But she was absolutely fine. they told me i bled from somewhere in the uterus but has not affected baby. This bleeding went on and off for another 10 weeks. Doctors could not provide the accurate answer why i bled that much .

So please dont worry. Bleeding in pregnancy cause massive panic .

I had same sort of bleeding in my last smear test and I have been told its normal

@titanic25 thanks for sharing your story, I’m so glad everything was fine.
Yesterday I was just getting very very light spotting when wiping, sometimes nothing and somethings a tiny speck of blood, but I’ve woke up a couple of times in night for toilet and it’s been watery pink discharge, should I be worried or is this nothing to be concerned about?

I would get it checked out as speculum bleeding should be stopped by next day. you might have lost mucus plug if its pink discharge and don't worry it will regenerate. It does look like more beige ish type discharge with pink streaks.
But best to get it checked out and ask for scan rather than another vaginal examination. Dont worry too much and let me know how you get on.

@titanic25 just phoned the unit and they told me not to worry for now and just rest and to phone them back if my cramping gets severe or I get fresh red blood. Hopefully everything will be okay.

Hopefully it will get better by resting. Take care x
