Hi, I'm wondering what your preeclampsia symptoms were, and if you remember what your blood pressure was when diagnosed?

I've been on high watch for preeclampsia since 8 weeks as my mum had it with both pregnancies, and I'm now 31 weeks and I think im starting to get possible symptoms... but hopefully just overreacting 🤞 thanks in advance! X

I have nothing to add, but thought I'd bump the post, as I'm also interested. My blood pressure has come up by 20, both systolic and diastolic and I'm noticing swelling on my ankles. I'm also high risk, but was told it takes an increase of BP more than 30 to be taken seriously

The first time I remember before it was picked up I had a headache and I noticed my hands were puffy.

It was picked up at a routine appointment and I think my BP was in the 150s over 100s and there was plus 2 protein in my urine. Straight to hospital. I was 33 weeks I think. But it was controlled with blood pressure drugs and dd was born at 39 wks although did have IUGR so was quite small. Is a strapping 13yo now!

The point is though that it can often be symptomless. In subsequent pregnancies I had a BP monitor at home that I got from Amazon and some urine dip sticks so that I could put my mind at rest and keep an eye on things if I felt funny or had a headache. I’d recommend that if you’re worried

MIL's first sign was not being able to get her wellies on. She then developed a blinding headache on the walk to the midwife and by the time she was in hospital 2hrs later, FIL said she was puffy and swollen all over. She was 30wks and had an immediate emcs. DH is just about to turn 40.

Headaches
Flashes in my eyes
I was hospitalised with bells palsy
I can't remember exactly what my blood pressure was when I got admitted. I think it was something over 175. I just remember was soon as they did it, the nurse in A&E (I'd gone about the Bells Palsy) went rushing off to get me admitted ASAP.

Thank you all so much!

I did a urine dip test at home yesterday and it was showing protein in my urine. I've had a trace in my urine for weeks, but this time it was 1.0+ so unsure what to do!

My urine was also bright orange last night but it's not now.

Feet have started swelling over the last 5 days, and I have been getting headaches.

And finally I've been getting flashing lights in my eyes. I've been getting this since 16 weeks but seems to be happening more often now.

I have just started metformin so I'm unsure if it's that causing all my issues or not !!

My blood pressure has been gradually going up (the bottom number), but the midwife said it needs to be 90 or over to be preeclampsia and mines now 77 - usually around 61 so it's gradually getting there!

Thanks for all the replies everyone x

I probably should of mentioned the reason I haven't been able to see a midwife yet is the midwifes at my gp are fully booked, my next appointment is 4th Jan and my local hospital have closed the maternity department due to covid so the nearest hospital is 1 hour 45 minutes away....

I'll retest urine tonight, if it's still showing protein I'll call and make the journey! X

I had pre-eclampsia and was induced a few weeks ago because of it.

Over a period of a few weeks my blood pressure had been creeping up.
Midwife sent me to triage when it was 140/90.
I had swollen hands but it had been like this for weeks so nobofy had been worried about it. I had no other symptoms at all.
Triage said i was fine and discharged me.
I continued monitoring my BP at home on the advice of my midwife and was told if its more than 140/100 to go to triage.
This info is actually incorrect - anything 140/90 or above you need to be checked.

At my final midwife appt it got to 160/96 and I was sent back to triage where it just got higher and higher despite medication to lower it.
I also had a trace of protein in my urine.
I was admitted immediately and was induced that night.
Baby was born after a 1hour 45min labor.

The symptoms you have need assessing.
I wasnt worried about pre-eclampsia because i didnt have symptoms and felt fine.
But it is an emergency situation and can be dangerous for you and baby.
You need to call the triage department and get yourself in for monitoring. With those symptoms they will want to check you over, especially with protein in your urine.
Give them a call and get assessed.
Hope all goes well.

Very very swollen feet, ankles and hands. Felt fluid sloshing in my feet when walking upstairs.
Fuzzy head.
Blood pressure consistently 200/110 ish.
C section at 36, 37 weeks. Kinda classed as full term so no biggy.
Only thing was the placental insufficiency that worried me.
I had teeny tiny 5lb baby each time that were ravenously hungry for months so hourly breast feeding for weeks to catch up.
Killer was that!
