What's involved? Is there a scan etc?

I think it probably depends on why you're consultant lead. I was consultant lead because I have bowel disease which can lead to growth restriction. The appointment consisted of:

  • Chat about the bowel disease
  • Chat about how the pregnancy was going
  • More detailed look at blood test results than the midwife had done
  • Quick scan
  • Referral to dietician

Mine just asked lots of questions about an existing condition so she could decide what to do next i.e. she booked in a consultant appointment for me with the cardiologist

I had one appointment due to my age (41).
An assistant checked my urine and did my blood pressure before the appointment.
She reviewed my history and results with me and asked if I had any concerns (I didn't).
We talked about induction and the reasons why it's recommend in my situation (over 40) and how that works. I agreed and she booked it in.
She palpated baby, measured the bump and did a really quick scan.
Was about 10 minutes!
