I work for the NHS but due to my husband's change in job I will need to move to another trust later on this year.

I am currently awaiting surgery for Ashermans syndrome following 2 miscarriages.

When I looked up maternity pay in the NHS it said you'd need both the following.

A)12 months continuous service with one or more NHS employers at the beginning of the 11th week before your baby is due? *Please note breaks in NHS service of 3 months can be disregarded but will not count as service.

AND

B) 26 weeks continuous service with the same NHS employer at the beginning of the 15th week before your baby is due

Obviously if I've just moved into a new trust I won't have the second so it says this

It is likely you are eligible for NHS contractual maternity pay from your employer and Maternity Allowance (MA) from the government.

Has anyone applied for MA in this situation and been successful? Thanks for reading the long post and helping.

I'm in a similar situation - have more than a year continuous service in the NHS but moved from England to Scotland in October and now 3 months pregnant.

I'm totally confused about all the different types of leave / pay and currently have my head deep in the sand about it.

I don't know the answer I'm afraid, bit following closely in case anyone else does!

Hi, yes I was in this situation last year.
I changed trust in early pregnancy so I was entitled to the OMP but not SMP. I then claimed maternity allowance and it was really easy. I think MA is the same amount as SMP Smile
