I'm 30 weeks now and already have a 18 month DD. With her I craved Balsamic Vinegar and drank it like wine.

Now I am craving ice, which is normal enough, but my secret craving which I am fighting so hard is PETROL . I can't stop thinking about it. I walked around the multi-storey today like a Bisto kid. Diesel isn't quite as good, but I'm also finding excuses to use chemical cleaners. oooh and the snappy bits in Christmas crackers are driving me wild.

I also want to eat toothpaste.

Please come up with some equally weird cravings to distract me please.

LOL at you with your expensive cravings!

Mine was tomato juice!

Yeah petrol prices are outrageous at the moment! I was that one person who turned up at the Fuel Protests recently.

DH has forbidden me from telling the midwife, but said if I was really good he'd try to get me some aviation fuel, yummy.

Is this a form of pica, do you think? Like people eat coal?

hannahjb · 20/12/2007 09:49

I am totally with you on the petrol thing. With my first pregnancy I used to deliberately spill petrol on my shoes so I could smell it when I got home. Also, coal, creosote and chalk. I am 22 weeks pregnant with my second and thought I was getting away with it this time until I smelt a coal fire last night and that was it, I am now on the hunt for a lovely piece of chalk to munch on. Why can't it be bacon sandwiches?

bluedomino · 20/12/2007 21:52

hannahjb, thankgod someone else has smelling cravings too, I thought I was going mad. But now I have a new problem, since reading your post I WANT CREOSOTE! Damn you
I thought pica was just for craving eating things not wanting to inhale as well? Anyone know?

FrannyandZooey · 21/12/2007 08:56

with ds I wanted to drink mouthwash

just about managed to resist

Mumblesmummy · 21/12/2007 12:04

My mum craved creosote, coal, tar and coaltsfoot (sp?) rock when she was pregnant with me and I have cravings for those when I'm not pregnant!! (As a result I assume).

I am craving car polish smell at the moment and also disinfectant, altho I still wouldn't say no to a waft of creosote/tar/coal.... mmmmmmmmmm...

bluedomino · 21/12/2007 21:43

All come over to my house for a Christmas sniffing party!
