C section booked for next week & had hair appointment booked for tomorrow as desperately needs doing & horrendous roots - no idea when will be able to go after having a baby

Now with new strain would I be crazy to go ?

I would still go personally & just be extra cautious with masks, sanitiser etc :) entirely your own choice though!

WTF475878237NC · 20/12/2021 22:14

Personally I wouldn't go as I couldn't justify to myself something going wrong with the baby or me for my hair (IE not what I would say is an essential reason to be close to someone else). If the salon has a mask and LFT policy for staff and clients that would help, could you ask?

DSGR · 20/12/2021 22:15

Yes of course I’d go. I presume you’ve had your vaccines?

TheOccupier · 20/12/2021 22:18

38 weeks? Go!

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 20/12/2021 22:34

Nope don't think I would. Not right now with two weeks to go. Also my hairdresser wouldn't dye my hair when pregnant?

Frizzyfrizz · 20/12/2021 22:36

I would and had my hair dyed in pregnancy. Be careful, do an LFT before and the day after, use hand sanitiser and keep your mask on the whole time.

SouthwestSis · 20/12/2021 23:17

If you've had all 3 jabs then yes probably I would go if it were me, if you're still yet to have you'd booster then probably not.

Saskia6 · 21/12/2021 00:03

I’m also 38 weeks and going tomorrow. Also getting my eyebrows waxed and lashes done. I’ve had my jabs, I’ll sanitise and wear a mask.

sheusesmagazines · 21/12/2021 06:58

I wouldn't go. I'm really worried about my partner getting Covid and not being at the birth. I'm 38+6. But where I am the case rate is extremely high.

BobbleWobble1 · 21/12/2021 09:37

Personally I'd still go.

girlmom21 · 21/12/2021 09:43

I'd go. Who knows when you'll get another chance to get your hair done?!

Chunkymonkey13 · 21/12/2021 09:47

If it’s not busy / socially distanced with other customers and your vaccinated then I would 100% go. You will feel so much better for it and in a vain sense think of you holding your new born in photos. If you don’t go you will forever be looking at your roots in those pictures (or I would be, don’t judge!)

Chasingaftermidnight · 21/12/2021 09:50

I’m in a very similar position and I’ve decided not to go - I’ve had my initial jabs but not my booster because I’m not eligible for it yet. My hair looks absolutely terrible though.

What’s the point in doing a LFT the day before and the day after? It won’t offer any protection. And covid takes a couple of days at least to develop - a lateral flow test the day after exposure would most likely be negative.

OP I would not risk this. Omicron is everywhere.

Terri22 · 21/12/2021 11:29

Thanks everyone have very sadly decided not to go as can’t risk partner not being at birth - ugh wish I had gone two weeks ago !!

Frizzyfrizz · 21/12/2021 14:37

It won't offer protection to OP but it will to people around her. Omicron develops very quickly, so LFT the day after will show if she's caught it, and therefore reduces the possibility of spreading it.

OP you're making the right choice for you - maybe root spray will help tide you over?

jolota · 21/12/2021 15:09

@Frizzyfrizz
Not necessarily true, my husband caught covid in London weekend before last & his LTF on the Tuesday came up negative - so we didn't find out until he took another on the Friday & he works from home & hadn't been anywhere all week so definitely had to have caught it that weekend.
So at least 24 hours (if not more) after exposure he was testing negative.

I'm sorry your DH is unwell. Not all variants develop quickly but omicron does. You're right about the others which doesn't necessarily help everyone.

Honestly, I would go. I went yesterday and it was really empty in there. The hairdresser said that 20 appointments had been cancelled this week. If you don't go now, who knows when you will get the opportunity to go again.
