20 week scan - Confused by different dates - feeling bit thick

My due date according to my LMP (which was always 28 days) was 12 may. This was confirmed at a 7 week scan. Then at 12 week scan they brought it forward to 7 May, which confused me as does that mean I ovulated 5 days earlier than I thought I did?

Then at scan today, he showed me a date of 28 April, but said the 12 week scan was more accurate.

So anyone know what this all means? Does it just mean I have a slightly bigger baby that looks bigger than what it is? My 2 DS's were both big babies.

I am tempted to go by my original date of 12 May. But find it all very confusing.

Bringing it forward to 7 May they are implying that you probably ovulated 5 days earlier than you think you did. They are quite likely to be wrong about that, though .

Measuring 28 April at your 20 week scan does just imply a big baby, yes.

So your official due date will probably be 7 May, but personally I'd be anticipating a fairly large baby in mid-May instead.

Ha this has made me chuckle! I have a due date of 1st may from LMP. 1st scan said 25th april and like you i said thats bizzare but never mmind a few days. last week went for 20 ish week scan to be told i was due anther week earlier! so just like you i am going with my LMP date. The sonographer at second scan told me in her mind she wouldnt change the dates. Babies are all different and not text book. DD 1 was very long and 8lb 4oz so not tiny. and this one i assume will be the same. her dates were also all over the shop! dont panic just sit and wait!

Apparently if you have a scan after 20 weeks there is a 21 day margin of error, so you aren't being thick (except perhaps thick waisted)

Thanks for all the replies, makes me feel much less dosy!! Think I trust my date the most.

Looking forward to a 10lber then, as first was 9lb 6oz, second 8lb 11oz.

Thought it was weird that I ovulated 5 days before I thought I did as am usually quite good at spotting the signs of ovulation!
