So we have longed for this baby for so long, after several losses, we have finally made it to 24 weeks with our rainbow.

To make it even more special, we're having a little girl after 2 boys (one together and my husband has one from previous) it's fallen perfectly but I'm really struggling with this pregnancy!

I can't enjoy it at all, I'm carrying this pregnancy so much differently to my son. I have an anterior placenta this time so movement from one day to the next is totally different, my ribs hurt constantly, I'm constantly moaning about how sore my belly is (that stretching feeling), the breathlessness, I just can't enjoy being pregnant despite my best efforts as I know this is our last baby! I'm not sleeping, can't get comfortable, the heartburn is a whole new level, can't just be me??? I'm so grateful to be in this position but I'm really not liking being pregnant this time round!

Any tips to soothe a sore/uncomfortable stomach welcome 🙏

Hi @MrsMarrioo waves,

Congrats on your Girly!!!!

Sorry to hear about your losses and the difficult time you’re having! I am currently on my 7th pregnancy following fertility treatment and have no living children - but this fetus seems to be doing well - fingers firmly crossed! Currently 18weeks and feel your discomfort, anterior placenta and breathlessness. None of its easy and we’re made to feel guilty if we don’t see it as this amazing miracle every second of every day - which it is but we need to vent too. Then we’re expected to just get on and cope with it like everyone else - that isn’t pregnant and it’s bloody hard work. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to get even this far but we need time to be honest with ourselves and others without being judged or persecutory behaviours.

Stretching pains = warm bath or heat gel I’ve found helps or paracetamol if you need to. Your midwife may have some better suggestions.

I live in vicks chest rub for nasal congestion and have anatomicals forehead rub for headaches… it’s all very glamorous.

The insomnia - I have no cure for!! Sometimes Horlicks made from milk works for me but clearly not tonight!!

I hear it, I feel it, I see it! We will get there xx

Oh and I’m on clexane injections from positive test through to 6 weeks postnatally so the sore belly is quite a problem with the bruises but even so I still find hot baths a god send!! Xx

Nobody was ever meant to necessarily enjoy pregnancy OP, that's an ideal that has come about in modern society. Sometimes it's shit, that's all there is to it!

Thank you!

I've been beating myself up adamant I should be enjoying it but I really can't! I feel like I'm getting on works last nerve (had to call in sick tonight because I was in triage for reduced movement/rib pain again and couldn't start my shift on time! I work at the hospital myself) i know they can't sack me for anything related to pregnancy but it doesn't stop me worrying.

Luckily baby is okay, just an anterior placenta and rib/chest pain which apparently has no cause. Bizarre but! I'm just struggling to enjoy being pregnant, I'm having such a difficult pregnancy this time round! Glad to know I'm not alone!
