Scared I've harmed baby by having too many ultrasounds

Hi guys. I'm an ftm aged 25. By the time I have this baby I will have had 11 scans I think? 3 on the nhs and the rest private. They have varied in time from extremely quick (literally like 3 minutes) to 15 minutes. Baby seems fine so far at 17 weeks, but I keep.having intrusive thoughts that I've hurt my baby. I'm not high risk so I feel horribly guilty and scared . I feel so stupid that I could've put my precious baby at risk.

Scans here fortnightly with identical twins and some of them took FOREVER because the little beasts wouldn't comply. They're totally as normal as toddlers can ever be.

But you're not OK. That level of anxiety isn't good for you and you really do need to speak to someone. Is your midwife nice? GP? Even the Practice nurse?

I had about 10 scans with DD1 and no ill affects. Very healthy happy little girl. If it was dangerous, the NHS is an incredibly risk adverse organisation, they wouldn’t do it. Don’t listen to conspiracy theories online 😀

I had a high risk pregnancy with DD (previous prem birth) and had LOADS of scans, I don't even know how many. She is now 6 and is totally fine.

Definitely if you are struggling with anxiety have a chat with your midwife or GP, there is lots of support out there.

@Amelia56 I can't really remember but probably every 4 weeks to start with, then at least every two weeks from say 16/20 weeks onwards?

I had one every 2 weeks as I had a short cervix and a stitch. All ok :)

With our second I had loads, one for early bleeding, routine 2 with 20 week being repeated, cervical length scans every 3 weeks from 15 weeks, then repeated growth scans third trimester.
He's 5 and absolutely fine, great health wise and doing really well in school.

I freaked out about this too! And baby is absolutely fine and over 1 now and hitting all milestones and just generally a delight. I remember the scan that set the panic off was one where I actually felt heat coming from the stick as it rubbed against my belly and they were like “no no there’s no heat” so I then freaked that it malfunctioned and sent loads of heat into my tummy. Looking back I see why everyone’s thought I was very anxious about everything 😅
