When did you start drinking raspberry tea leaf and how much at each week?

Currently 30 weeks and 1 day. I have bought a few boxes for when it's time to drink. I've read conflicting times to start drinking. So curious to when others did?

Just to mention I won't be starting now. So don't jump and worry I'm starting at 30 weeks 😂!

I nevr did, I wasn’t happy with the conflicting information and as some of the boxes say do not drink when pregnant, I didn’t.

Two weeks before baby was due.

Following because i'm 30 weeks & have started drinking it.. didn't realise it would be a problem to!?

Blxo94 · 19/12/2021 18:05

@jolota oh hi! I'm not sure either. I've just seen the minimum week 32 weeks?

But I'm not sure why as it says it's not to induced labour. More to help muscles and stuff so I don't see the harm and don't understand why 32 weeks and not 30? God knows. Hopefully we both get a rough idea on here?

@Blxo94 I'm 32 + 3. Read online from 32 is a good time to start building up more as get further on. But still not started due to different information online. Hmm

I think it was about 6 weeks from due date. But yeah it doesn't bring on labour and I did get a short pushing stage. But it was my third so might have been coincidence.

36 weeks one cup a day 37 weeks 2 Cup a day 38 weeks 3 Cup a day dd born at 39 weeks labour took 1 an half hours was literally in the hospital 10mins no time for any pain relief.

Last 4 weeks of pregnancy. My midwife advised R.L extract tablets as much easier than faffing with tea. I think it was 2 twice a day. (See dose on box.) Brilliant stuff. I really believe its of great benefit.

Cherrytart23 · 19/12/2021 19:12

It softens the cervix hence not recommended in early pregnancy as can cause miscarriage. There is also a tablet you can take if you don't fancy the tea

coffeewithmilk · 19/12/2021 19:12

I'm 33+2 and have just started drinking it yesterday. Going to drink 1 cup a day until 35 weeks, then up it to 2 cups a day from then

I think I started drinking a cup per day from 30 weeks. I was told that it was fine in the third trimester, but to stop if it brought on strong Braxton Hicks. I should be upping the dose now, but I still only have one cup per day

AFAIK there is slightly stronger evidence for dates than raspberry leaf tea. There is a small peer reviewed study that suggests they work.

There's been a few studies on dates. Dates can soften the cervix and make it more favourable for labour, raspberry leaf tea is a uterine tonic and can make contractions more effective. Like you say, not much evidence to support RLT out there, but I like the taste of it, so am happily drinking it. If it helps, then bonus!
