can someone tell me at what stage its safe to start taking these, and how many a day? I'm 35 weeks. Also, if you found they helped at all. Cheers.

I started them about 37 weeks, when i got to overdue stage I downed several- started labour very effectivley LOL- then I swallowed rest of bottle and was by far my fastest labour LOL

Must remember to get some in for thsi time....

I started them at 36 weeks - the capsules you buy will have a dosage on them depending on their strength. Mine are 2, 3 times a day, but due to convenience I take 3, 2 times a day .

Last weekend when I thought I was going into labour I guzzled about 20 in a 48 hour period

has anyone had these and things went ok its just i know two friends and they ended up with a haemorrhage and one had to have surgery the hospital told her that could have been the cause because they soften the cervic and make your have stronger contrations and the contrations where still coming for a while after the baby was born. she had to have blood transfustion twice. i was going to use these near my due date but they have said please dont use them so im a bit

rdk I'd be extremely surprised if they were the cause, obv am not a Consultant but never heard of it before. iw ouldn't have any reserves ho0wever about using the standard Holland and barratt dosage.

makingnosense · 20/12/2007 09:44

I've bought the Holland and Barratt ones, so maybe will start using them in a week then. SHould I start gradually and build up to the recommended dose or just go for it from the outset?

I drank raspberry leaf tea from about 36 weeks, and I was fine. I always credit it for my short, easyish labours.

PeachyHasAFiggyPudInTheOven · 20/12/2007 09:49

I would imagine its OK to just start with the recommended dosage, as longa s you've got a reputable proprietor. i do worry about some of the ones people can buy over internet (not just raspeberry leaf, all homeopathic / chinese remedies) and in the non regulated shops- who knows what they put in them?

Sweetiesandcakes · 20/12/2007 15:48

ooh i swear by them - I went from 2 to 7cm dilated in 1 and a half hours with my first baby. Having a c-section this time though so wont be taking them again.
