and she poked and prodded me some much that I think she has upset the baby! I am 3/5 engaged and she not only proddedme but then let her trainee poke and prod me then play 'guess the position of the baby'.. is it wrong to feel a bit weepy that the little one is now fraught? I have twingy pains as well.. sorry to post somethings that seems pointless but feel a bit disturbed..

Anything seems to make me feel weepy. Being prodded sounds good enough to me

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 19/12/2007 17:35

p.s. am 36 weeks pregnant .. I don't mean I'm usually this weepy.

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 19/12/2007 17:36

I'm sure baby is fine, I had a scan today (24wks) and could feel and see the baby kicking the scan thingy as it went near it. I doubt baby was actually 'bothered' by it. Try not to worry, you're bound to be hormotional.

camillathechicken · 19/12/2007 17:36

oh honey

baby is very well protected in there

there is your skin, fat, uterus, membranes and amniotic fluid....

why do you think little one is fraught?

babies are jiggled about whenever you move or change position, and they are used to the noise of your tummy rumbling and your heartbeat, so they are used to some disruption

have a cuppa and relax , that will help baby too.

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 19/12/2007 17:37

camilla have you seen my pregnancy thread? Do you know anything about lack of blood flow through the uterine artery??

crokky · 19/12/2007 17:38

bluebell, I am sure you will be OK. When I was pg with my first, I had the same, a major prodding from the MW and then an even more major prodding from her trainee. I felt the same as you, as I spent the whole pg totally protecting my bump from everything in the world. Anyway now pg again and toddler giving bump a bit of a bashing! I am sure this happens to everyone and your LO will be fine. I am sure LO has a very short memory at this stage as well!

BeeWiseMen · 19/12/2007 17:43

bluebell, do you think you maybe feel disturbed by the prodding because they were showing a lack of respect for your body? You must be thinking a lot about the birth now and I know at that stage I was worrying a lot about how my body was going to be treated. Any hint of roughness or casual handling at a mw check would have had me blubbing too. I may be well wide of the mark here of course .

SpacecadetLovesChristmas · 19/12/2007 17:50

try not to worry..babies are very well protected in there..fwiw..I wouldnt have enjoyed an examination that felt rougher than normal..your body tends to feel like public property when you are pregnant

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 19/12/2007 17:51

SPACE!!!! where have you been? Is it just me who has missed you or have you been absent?

SpacecadetLovesChristmas · 19/12/2007 18:01

Ive been away, however I couldnt resist the lure of MN any longer!!

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 19/12/2007 18:02

good !!! I even named you on a awol thread the other day so there you go - you were missed!

bluebell82 · 19/12/2007 18:04

thanks everyone.. feel horrible, i'm in a bit of pain as the baby is really moving at the moment think i may get into the bath and try and calm her down.

I have been so protective of the bump and even my dh sleeps in one position allnight so to avoid rolling onto me! We sound nuerotic but I just feel a bit volated and because the baby is moving so much at the moment I can't help but think she has been upset!

someone missed me!!!!..yay!!!!
been so busy..then realised I hadnt posted on here for a millenium
Paula..is that your usual name or are you a name changer?

ShowOfHands · 19/12/2007 18:10

bluebell, I went for a scan when pg and the baby wouldn't wake up so the sonographer kept hitting my stomach with his probe thing. Baby didn't wake up and I had very bad bruising for a few days. I felt utterly violated and I think that's normal, they sometimes forget that there's a human being surrounding that baby they're so interested in. I'm sure your baby is absolutely fine and just excited about Christmas.

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 19/12/2007 22:16

the latter space!
i remember you when you were a moderator!

SpacecadetLovesChristmas · 21/12/2007 17:58

hmmm..curious
sadly us mods are no more now

whomovedmychocolate · 21/12/2007 18:03

Bluebell: you have every right to tell them to stop it you know? You don't have to let trainees prod you, in fact you don't have to let anyone prod you. I would be angry, let alone sore.

Your LO will be fine though, I think I was prodded by 10 different staff over the course of 24 hours and the baby came out fine - cross, as was I, but fine

bluebell82 · 21/12/2007 18:44

Hi everyone, next time a pescky trainee comes near I will say no! LO is fine, has been dancing around all day so I don't think there was any lasting damage, just cottoned on to my upset I think xx
