Harmony or Panorama?

Hi all,

I’m seeing my clinic for a ten week scan on Tuesday when I’ll technically be 9 weeks 5 days as this is the day my consultant does his appointments. The clinic is then closed over Christmas and I’ll be back for a 12 week scan on Jan 6th as I’m not 10 weeks they said I can’t do harmony but I could do panorama. Or wait until 12 weeks then do harmony.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the two?

I'm afraid I don't know, but I was briefly terrified that you might be planning to call your child 'Panorama'.

CoconutQueen · 17/12/2021 15:38

Yes I also thought the child was going to be called Panorama...

We have no idea what you are talking about OP, sorry

They are very similar, not much to choose between them. I’d take whichever will give you the results fastest — ask the doctor for the typical waiting time.

The difference is just the company making them and probably slight differences in the processing but they are both NIPT and essentially do the same thing.

Isn’t this one of those times that if you’ve no idea what the thread is about, you just skip on?

Anyway. Interested to hear people’s experiences as I’ll get booked for one of these too

I think both companies are the same type of technique, but personally I wouldn't use panorama.

Take a look at the nipt subreddit and you'll find a lot of issues with panorama, and they inflate their statistics and cause a lot of upset and unnecessary stress if you get a positive result.

Also it is worth waiting until you are a bit further along. You are more likely to get an inconclusive result at 9 weeks.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope you get a low risk nipt result

@ShootingStar94 thanks for this. I had done some reading and was nearly decided on doing Panorama but reading that makes me think I’ll just wait for harmony. I’ll be 11 weeks 5 days doing it so it is still reasonably soon.

My siblings both got harmony also.

I had the Panorama test done at 9+6 and came back perfect (resulta based on good fraction). If there is not enough baby's blood on your blood sample you would be told to go back for taking them again. My results were supposed to take two weeks to come back, but it only took a week (samples send to California).
