im 36+4 and am now 4/5 engaged. This is my second child first was born 37+4 after my waters breaking i was in labour for 2hrs20minutes. Ive been getting loads of twinges on exertion and now more intense tightenings when resting or moving about the last couple of days. And also ive had to empty my bowels quite a bit. These tightenings can be uncomfortable but its as if my stomach is constantly tight and then a wave comes over lasting 15 seconds-then eases slightly. Im just not sure how i will know whether im in labour i didnt have any of this last time around.I just hope my waters break again this fears so cruel as they can be quite painful.

i had similar pains and was told they are head fitting pains that can sometimes happen in second pregnancies it felt like labour to me though!!!

im sure that you will know before it is too late just relax and wait for things to happen when they are ready too

have a drink

urine infection and dehydration can cause Braxton Hicks contractions and these can be painful (whatever the midwives say!)

sounds as though things could be starting though
