Can anyone please share what their experience of early miscarriage bleeding was like ? (Between 4-5 weeks). How long did it last?

Thank you x

@ttcbabyk Hi op I've had a couple of early miscarriages bleeding was no longer than a normal period Flowers

Missnicolinda96 · 16/12/2021 11:47

I had one at 5-6 weeks and it was like a very heavy period. I only had some stabbing pains (not severe) initially then nothing. Lasted about a week from start to finish. X

I had one at 5+6. Heaving bleeding for 1.5h while it passed naturally. Then I had a a bleeding lighter than a period for six days.

Im so sorry you’re going through this OP!

As far as I’m aware every woman’s experience is very different on this.
I really don’t want to frighten you but mine was on the fairly extreme end and I honestly wish I’d have known beforehand just how painful and how much blood there could be.

For me, bleeding and cramping started in the afternoon similar to a normal period. Then things changed suddenly in the evening and I couldn’t even move or speak because of the pain and was filling pads in seconds. This went on for about 3 hours.
Eventually the bleeding and pain lessened back to a normal period.

No pain but bleeding for a couple of days after this then light bleeding/spotting for a further two weeks.

Despite all this though, the biggest shock to me was the absolute lack of f@#ks given by the medical profession. I was really not expecting that.

I would say stock up on painkillers and super pads just in case but I really do hope that you don’t have to experience anything like what I went through. Sending hugs at this horrible time. Flowers

So sorry @ttcbabyk Flowers

I had an early miscarriage back in July around the same dates and it was just heavier than a normal period - the bleeding stopped after 5 days. Sending hugs x

Thanks everyone. I've been trying to get on with it but it's been hard not just physically but mentally too.

I know it was really early on and that people have had miscarriages further along in their pregnancy. So I don't know why I'm so devastated...? I think it's the fact that I miscarried the day I got the positive on the test (3-4 tests but the lines were getting lighter)

Everyone else around me has a 'everything happens for a reason' approach but my heart does think about what could have been. I also wonder if I'll be able to get pregnant again (I know I'm overthinking) it's just really difficult. But like I said, I know people have had worse experiences.

I had really bad cramping for a few hours and a lot of clots passed. I've had another day of somewhat heavy bleeding but the cramping has calmed down. Is that normal?

Your experience sounds similar to mine - I was around 5+1.
Cramping/ bleeding on and off and then it just turned in to a "normal" period.

Just because it was so early doesn't mean you don't have a right to be upset - be kind to yourself. I was devastated. :(

Many many pregnancies end this way, and it in no way means that you won't get pregnant again, or that there is anything wrong. In fact, I am 11 weeks now (and trying not to constantly worry lol!!)

Good luck xx

ttcbabyk · 17/12/2021 13:02

Thank you @Careyy I literally had no time to take the news in as I was bleeding within an hour or so of taking the test. Just really hurts. Do you know if I can TTC again straight after a miscarriage?

Reading these I’m wondering if I should be worried. I had an early miscarriage this month but have had the opposite with a very light bleed and none of the usual cramps. Pregnancy and later was miscarriage were confirmed with blood tests.

3 days after blood tests confirmed miscarriage, I had a light bleed for only 1 day. The next morning I passed some small clots and it all stopped. A few days later some brown spotting, barely noticeable. I was waiting for a heavy period to start, but I’m now ovulating so I think that was it.

BuffaloCauliflower · 17/12/2021 13:56

Miscarried at about 5 weeks, wasn’t heavy at all just like a normal period (I have fairly light, manageable periods) except I also felt kind of lightheaded and dizzy? But bleeding only lasted 2-3 days.
