I'm so far behind in this thread!

I had my first scan last week (we do a dating scan at 7 weeks where I'm from) and the baby wasn't as far a long as they thought and the heart beat was a little slower than they'd have liked so I have to go back for another scan next week to hope all is ok. I'm mostly feeling ok about it but don't feel a sense of relief like I had after every scan in my first pregnancy. Currently 7 plus 2.

I had some sickness for a few days that seems to have gone away for now but my breasts are very tender.

Sorry to hear that lots of you are experiencing spotting and worrying about this. I had this with my first, it was scary but everything turned out fine.

Beth262 · 29/12/2021 13:32

Hi everyone

This thread has been busy the last few days - it's taken me a while to catch up!

@rosesarereddish sorry to hear you tested positive and your Christmas wasn't what you were expecting. How are you feeling? Hope your symptoms have been mild.

@CoalCraft how is your mum recovering after her operation? Yes my scan is also tomorrow. I'm so anxious, working myself up totally for no reason really. I've not had anymore spotting since they prescribed me progesterone 2 weeks ago so there's nothing to suggest anything is amiss (though I've had days where cramping has been pretty bad and I didn't have that with DS). But I just have a feeling, you know? 🙁 Needless to say that's not going down very well with DP at the moment but I'll know tomorrow either way. Hopefully pregnancy hormones are throwing my radar out! 😆 Iwas tempted to book a private scan last week but as I got to the confirmation page there was something about not recommending more than 1 scan every 2 weeks including NHS so I was a bit hmmm.... and left it. Have you had anymore spotting since Xmas eve?

@Hannabanana2021 and @madeleine85 You're both having your second sets of bloods today aren't you? Hope all goes Ok. Sending you some emotional strength and virtual hugs.

Hope the rest of you are doing well x

Glago2017 · 29/12/2021 13:59

Just catching up on all the messages, hope you all had a lovely Christmas.

Thinking of everyone who is going through an anxious time just now. fingers crossed for you all 🤞

I'm 6+4 nipples are tender and feeling a bit of nausea from time to time and not really fancying food but feel a bit better once I've eaten. Went to the shops today and wearing a mask made me feel worse.

Hannabanana2021 · 29/12/2021 14:26

@Beth262 yes my second blood test is at 4 today and they'll call tomorrow with results x

Beth262 · 29/12/2021 14:31

I have everything crossed for you @Hannabanana2021 x

Hannabanana2021 · 29/12/2021 14:43

Thank you @Beth262
I might ask them if it's worth checking me cervix. They said it was closed on Monday so the bleeding was most likely not related to a loss. But I'm wondering if it's now open now I'm bleeding and spotting more x

Beth262 · 29/12/2021 14:46

@Hannabanana2021 no harm in asking them to check. Keep us updated 😘 x

CoalCraft · 29/12/2021 14:53

@beth262

Mum is doing really well, thanks for asking Smile We're hoping she'll be going home by Friday, which will be amazing as covid visiting rules have meant I haven't seen her for ages.

Glad to hear you've not had anymore spotting - that's a really good sign. I'd tell you not to worry but I know it's not as easy as that. I'm really bad for catastrophising, especially when I'm tired! Fingers crossed you'll get good news tomorrow.

I had a tiny bit of spotting yesterday, but it really was miniscule, just a tiny bit of pink on the tissue. So far it's been better than with DD, where was spotting pretty much constantly and had bright red bleeding here and there. I should have mentioned progesterone to the GP when I spoke to her, but at least I can ask about it tomorrow. No one has brought it up with me in this pregnancy or my last do I wonder of it's a newer treatment?

Let us know how it goes tomorrow xx

ExPatHereForAChat · 29/12/2021 15:37

Hi ladies! I'm 5+4 so due end of August. This will be number 2 and we're over the moon!
I had nausea at this stage last time with DS but so far not with this one. You'd think that would be a good thing but it's just making me worry.
I have been ravenous (never feel full) and quite tired though. Nipples also super sensitive (not fun when nursing DS).

Cakecakecheese · 29/12/2021 15:44

I've had a horrible couple of days where I've managed to convince myself it's all gone horribly wrong. I'm feeling much happier today and I've got my scan tomorrow so fingers crossed for that.

Beth262 · 29/12/2021 16:07

@CoalCraft Glad to hear she's doing well. I can imagine it's so frustrating not being able to visit. Fingers crossed she's out on Friday as planned and you can visit her at home 🙂

It's good news you've not really had any further spotting too. I'd definitely ask about progesterone at epu tomorrow. I read about it on BBC news a few weeks back where they've very recently changed the guidance and to be fair, they mentioned it before I actually had the opportunity to raise it when I spoke with them. I'll see if I can find a link to the article and DM it to you if you like?

I'll certainly let you know how it goes tomorrow. And you too! x

madeleine85 · 29/12/2021 18:39

@Beth262 thanks for checking in, I just had the 2nd blood draw, so I'm hoping to hear back early tomorrow. Since returning from holiday though I have been back with my easy at home cheapie HCG tests and can definitely see line progression now, today my control line and the test line finally matched, yesterday it was 75% the day before around 50% etc! Just really hoping that everything sticks. Even though my bloods are being taken, they were 247 2 days ago. so double would be about 500, and my friend had 2 misscarriages when her HCG hit 600 so now I wish I waited a few days to test so I was above that level, though it was likely isolated to her. How are you getting on?

@Cakecakecheese hope you are feeling more upbeat about it today, it is so hard when it is this early. You don't consistently "feel" pregnant which doesn't help. Honestly, I convinced myself with DD that she wouldn't make it past 12 weeks, and then the same at 15 weeks, then 20 until at 25 I finally accepted it when I knew she was viable outside of me. You hear so many MC stories that it really adds to worry levels. It is nice to know that even if something does happen that there are wonderful communities like this where people really do care about each other, and are going through the same emotions

Factualmistakes · 29/12/2021 19:08

Hello everyone. I'm 6 +1 from my first IVF transfer and due around 23rd August. Still got nearly 2 weeks to wait for my first scan and I swear this is the longest wait ever. I keep getting worried that I'm not really pregnant and that something will be wrong. Not had many symptoms apart from a lack of appetite (which seems to be better today thankfully), slightly sore boobs and I have been a little tired. I've also had cramping on and off but not too bad. I had a very small bleed last week which is what I think has set off my worry despite it being very minor and my clinic not being worried about it.
The whole TTC journey can be so up and down anyway and infertility seems to suck the joy out of everything because even now we have a BFP the worry doesn't stop!

Factualmistakes · 29/12/2021 19:26

@Prayingforabubba

Hi ladies

I hope it's okay to join. I am currently 4+5 with an IVF baby. I've currently got no symptoms other than increased hunger. My tests are nice and dark but the lack of symptoms are worrying me 😩 . Keep squeezing my boobs but they honestly are not sore at all.

Terrified of a mc tbh and hoping that the symptoms increase!

X

Hello fellow IVFer. I also keep squeezing my boobs and I'm so anxious that this isn't real. Keeping my fingers crossed for both of us.
Beth262 · 29/12/2021 20:13

Fingers crossed @madeleine85 for an early phone call and positive news for you. I'm doing ok, thank you. Well ok in that I'm up one minute and down the next! An almost complete absence of symptoms (except for sore nipples) has me imagining the worst but just have to think positive x

madeleine85 · 29/12/2021 20:40

@Beth262 is this your first? At this stage with my DD, I had no symptoms really right now, nausea started in another week or so, hoping to avoid that this time. This time my nipples are so sore/reactive to the cold which is great in winter lol, the occasional heartburn bout and a little sleepy here and there x

Beth262 · 29/12/2021 20:50

No, my second. I have a 2yo DS and don't really remember having any symptoms with him tbh - but then I bled on and off all the way through so my mind was on other things! I think it's probably the lack of tiredness that makes me worry most. He still wakes at least once a night so I expected to be absolutely on my knees with exhaustion of that & working full time & life in general but some nights I'm still wide awake watching a film at 11pm!

How old is your DD? x

madeleine85 · 29/12/2021 21:24

wow @Beth262 that sounds really stressful for a first pregnancy, I'm so glad you and your DS are both ok! I find it really stressful that the symptoms come and go. Sometimes I am exhausted/have heartburn/nipple twinges, sometimes I am totally fine and nothing is going on so I get really weirded out. I am really looking forward to reaching about 7 weeks if it happens and feeling like utter crap for a while assuming the pattern from my DD holds. I have a heavily pregnant friend rn who has had no symptoms ever and is totally healthy. It really is just baffling how it swings so much! Sending all the best wishes for a healthy easy pregnancy for you this time x

My DD just turned 2 in December, we are attempting the dreaded toilet training starting tomorrow... so that may distract me all weekend from obsessing about being pregnant :). She is generally a good wee sleeper, but she has so much energy, and never ever stops. She also doesn't plug into a TV so wants constant entertainment. Between that and work alone i'm exhausted never mind how the next few months might be!

Beth262 · 29/12/2021 21:38

Thank you @madeleine85. Good luck with the Potty training! Hit and miss for us with DS at the moment... he tells us after the event 🤦‍♀️😆

Lilipa · 30/12/2021 08:10

I have a private scan tomorrow at 5+5 (dates are certain since this is IVF), however, I'm not sure it was the right decision to book it.
I have NHS scan next Thursday at 6+4 and we have more probability to see something there. I started having some light symptoms last week but this week I don't feel not at all pregnant a
so I'm worrying that the end had already come. And I'm worried the scan tomorrow will not show an anything, however, the doctors are still going to tell me that it was too early to see something anyway so they will not yet be able to confirm that it's over. All in all, I'm starting to think the private scan I've booked for tomorrow is a waste of money and perhaps I should cancel it and only have the one NHS offered next Thursday. And if things are still vague next Thursday I can then book a private scan for the week after. My husband on the other side really wants us to have a scan tomorrow (he can be in with me for that one in this clinic) but of course he does not have the same stress I'm going through. Not sure what to do!

CoalCraft · 30/12/2021 08:15

Welp, today's scan day! Really hoping everything's okay in there. I decided to test this morning just so I'd have some forewarning if thing's were going really badly, and according to that at least I'm very much still pregnant. I'm concerned that it'll be too early to see a heartbeat and I'll have a week of uncertainty waiting to be scanned again...

@Beth262 re. The progesterone article, that would be handy, thank you! I also bled all through my first pregnancy (though it was less in 2nd / 3rd trimesters) and I just wish I knew WHY it happened and whether it was related to DD coming early, but it seems no one can tell me :/

@madeleine85 Good luck with the toilet training! 🚽

netflixandnochill · 30/12/2021 08:31

Good luck to those having scans today!! I hope that you all get the reassurance you need and looking forward to hearing your good news!

@Lilipa I’d go along to the scan and have this conversation with the sonographer. Hopefully, if a decision is made not to have it today, they’ll allow you to change the date of your scan and you can have another one following the nhs one. They do scans all the time so can hopefully give you an accurate answer as to what can be seen or heard at this point so you can make your decision.

surprised12 · 30/12/2021 08:41

Good luck to all having scans today!! Hope they all go well!

I've now got my booking in appointment on 11th of Jan, and have just booked a private scan for 9th Jan - think I'll be roughly 7+1 so I'm hoping to see a baby with a heartbeat 🤞🏼

Beth262 · 30/12/2021 10:03

Morning everyone

I'm so pleased to say the scan went well. Baby measuring around 8 weeks and all looking good. So relieved x
