Can a placenta move that much in just 3 weeks?!

The sonographer told me I had total PP 3 weeks ago and wrote it in my notes. Yesterday I asked the sonographer at a rescan to double check my placenta and she said, it has to be clear by 2.5cm and mine is just under that threshold and will only have to move about 5mm by 32 weeks to not have to get an elective C Section.

Can the placenta move that much in 3 weeks? After such relief yesterday, I am paranoid that the lady yesterday got it wrong now (I forgot MW had wrote it in my notes that it was total PP 3 weeks ago or I would have said that to the sonographer yesterday)

Think of it like this - partially blow up a balloon and colour in a part of it near the neck of the balloon with a sharpie pen. Then blow it up some more and watch the coloured in part ‘move’. It’s a great visual of how placenta praevia can change.

Yes. The uterus grows rapidly, depending how many weeks you are. It is usual to scan and wait. Unless, of course, you are later on in your pregnancy.
