Growth scan confusion

Just as the title suggests I guess. Been having regular growth scans since 30 weeks as bump is measuring small. Same pattern goes…

At regular midwife appointments they measure and I’m small. Go for scan and sonographer says the baby is infact bigger than average. This has happened 4 times now.

They don’t seem overly concerned but I’m now 36 weeks and got another scan tomorrow. The discrepancy is quite big too.

What is likely to happen? Just wait to go into labour as normal and see what size he comes out? Or will they want him here earlier?

I measured small at 28 weeks, so they sent me for a growth scan and baby was at 90th percentile. They told me they expected me to now follow that pattern, so if at my next appointment I was still measuring the same degree of small they would assume baby is ok. If I suddenly jumped up in bump size, they would send me for another scan. My bump measured at just below the 25th percentile. Are you growing relatively each appointment? If so, it seems strange to be sending you for scans continuously when it would be more odd if you suddenly presented with a “normal” sized bump.

When you say he’s bigger than average, how much bigger? If he was measuring very large then maybe they would induce, but if he’s just a bit big, there’s no reason for him to come early.

Thanks for replying. So I’m measuring the size of someone at 31 weeks but I’m actually 36. When we have the scans though baby is showing to be at 90th percentile.

The measurements are a bit all over the place. I’ve seen 3 diff midwives all measure him to be small but of varying degrees.

Not sure what to expect at all moving forward. Are they likely to induce?

At my 36w scan, baby had dropped from 25th centile to 9th. I saw a consultant and he recommended induction at 39w. This was booked but i actually went into spontaneous labour at 38w (when my BP suddently went through the roof) and so i never got to the induction. However, i was never measured by midwives - they don't do it in our trust anymore. I had a growth scan at 28w instead.
