Weeing during labour......[shock]

Ok.....I know about possibly doing a number two during labour.....

I know this is a really stupid question, but say if you are in labour for hours, do you still need to wee? Do you need to get up to go to the loo??

I was spared all of this first time round as I had a c-section. This time round though, baby is head down and I have lots of stupid questions like this.....

thanks :-)

You get up and go. You shouldn't really labour lying down, and should stay active. Going to the loo is not hard.

As far as I remember, and all is a bit hazy, I was able to go to the loo to wee normally when the contractions weren't too bad, but once they were coming really strong and fast I did say I needed to wee, and they sat me on a commode thing in the delivery room. I have vague recollections of having a conversation with the consultant, who'd just popped in to check how things were progressing, while sitting on it..."Hello Ms Gladbag, everything ok?" "Yes fine thank you," sort of thing. Did anyone mention leaving your dignity at the door? Good luck!

Another reason why a birthing pool is so good - you don't even need to get out for a wee

you are walking around anyway. i remember doing a wee on the toilet just like normal, felt strange though.

I don't remember weeing during labour except for in my first labour when I wee'ed on the bed when bearing down. Dh was a bit concerned I think, but I was beyond caring at the time!
