Abnormal blood results

Evening all,

I had my bloods taken yesterday as part of my booking in appointment (I’m 9 weeks) and I’ve seen on my online account some of them have come back as abnormal. (I have an appointment with the GP later in the week to discuss but wanted to talk through here too).

My platelet count is on the low side - 208 (150 low normal range)
Eosinophil 0 (0.4 low normal)
MCH 32.4 (high normal 32)
MCHC 367 (high normal is 360)

Is this indicating anaemia? Infection?

Not a doctor so please don’t take this as fact, but I work in blood sampling in animals and to me, this would point towards a problem with vitamin b-12 and folate, causing anaemia.

Thanks - it was looking that way to me too.

There’s a wider range of tolerance for pregnancy so if you’re only slightly outside bounds, they may not be too concerned.

Infection would involve raised white blood cells and anaemia is usually assessed by your haemoglobin and ferritin levels.

My white blood cell markers were a bit high at my 9 week appointment but they explained it commonly happens in pregnancy & that it would need to be significantly high for them to be concerned about infection.
