Does anyone else get really scared or nervous before a scan? I had a private scan on Monday last week but the lady didn't put much confidence in me. She asked me 6 times if I had any pains or bleeding but I kept giving the same answer each time. She said I was 6 weeks and to come back in 7-10 days for a better one as we could only see a small dot. I'm really worried incase it's bad news😞 any words of advice?

Hi I can’t believe no one has got back to you on this! That’s normal for 6 weeks I purposely waited until 10+ because I was so nervous of inconclusiveness. I think could you just try to relax over Xmas (easier said than done I know…) follow all the normal advice and return in January for another scan. I had a rubbish sonographer too at one point, and next time requested one I knew was good from my very first scan that pregnancy. All the best!

What helped me was continuing to remind myself that no amount of scans, worrying or thinking could change whatever the outcome would be. Also as someone who didn't have good news at a follow up, I wish I'd enjoyed being pregnant rather than worrying. I spent a week trying not to think about the baby and it doesn't make it any easier if the news isn't good. Now I wish I'd savoured being pregnant more. So my advice is enjoy the feeling of being pregnant when you think about the baby and try to distract yourself from negative thoughts with other things. Seeing friends, Christmas, meditation etc. X

Also you've posted this in pregnancy loss and you might get more of a response in the pregnancy section of mumsnet. People having scans and waiting for follow ups all over the place there X

I was 6+1 at my private scan and was asked if I had any bleeding as I had a subchoronic hemorraghe a sack of blood she told me I would bleed which I did not sure if my baby survived but try not to worry
