Self isolating for the last few weeks of pregnancy?

I'm 37 weeks, heading into 38. My plan is to isolate from 38, just to make sure I don't get COVID just before I go into hospital. Is anyone else isolating? Have you been advised to? I haven't but people I know who gave birth earlier in the pandemic were told to from 38 weeks.

It really depends on your circumstances - I had a 4 year old at school and a DH that needed to work otherwise didn't get paid so it wouldn't have made any point in just me isolating

Same as above. I also have care responsibilities I can't stop. Not possible for us as a family but don't blame anyone for doing it.

I won't fully isolate but won't really go out much. Have you had all 3 jabs? I will feel safer when I've had my booster

Pregnant with twins, expecting them to arrive in the next few weeks and yes, we'll be isolating as much as possible.

Have decided to take daughter out nursery for the few days she was due in until xmas. If you're able to isolate or at least drastically limit socialising etc then there's absolutely no reason not to IMO. Peace of mind too!

We did as much as possible due to the worry that DH wouldnt be able to be at the birth if he tested positive.
I stayed home from 37weeks. He did pop to the supermarket but we didnt socialise or anything.
Baby came at 38 weeks due to preeclampsia which we didnt expect.
We would have isolated until 40 weeks if she hadnt have come early though.

I have a planned c-section first week February and plan on taking my daughter out of preschool 10 days before and we are not going anywhere.

Husband's co-worker just tested positive for COVID! Evacuating to my parents' house until he gets a negative PCR. Stay safe, mumsnetters.

Oh no!! I'm 37+3 today and am trying to only do essential or outdoor things. However, DS 3 is still at nursery twice a week so that's our biggest risk. I know we could pull him out, but he's going through a rough patch and we want to keep his pattern the same, but also for my mental health I need some space. I've not finished work yet sadly and very much need a break!

I have been thinking a lot about this. Due mid January. Christmas holidays mean DH and DS will be at home anyway so planning to pretty much restrict ourselves from then. DH will work from home from the new year and DS will stay home from nursery until baby arrives. I'm only doing this because we're in a position where we can. I realise it's not an option for some. My main concern is the havoc it would cause if DS picks up something from nursery. He's by far our biggest risk.

With our 4mth old I was planned in for an elcs at 39wk (she decided to come a day earlier though). I did not isolate at all and had no issues, was pcr tested as I was booked for surgery (part of booking process now). My husband was working away until 3 days before birth, 5 kids and a dog to take care of so couldn't lock myself away.

Chely · 14/12/2021 18:47

The hospital never requested that dh did any civid tests either

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 15/12/2021 10:55

Yep, my biggest worry is DH catching it and having to go through labour or an ELS alone. I don't have anyone else I would be comfortable asking to be with me.

We had a near miss, someone he was supposed to have a meeting with has tested positive, but luckily DH had cancelled the meeting already!
