Hi all!

My little girl is 4 weeks old and I had a swab done of my incision scar a few days ago as I've been having some foul smelling discharge and flu like symptoms that accompany infection, anyway, the results came back that I need a course of antibiotics for infection.

How long did you start feeling better after starting them? It's so hard being unwell with a baby haha

Immediately. Next morning after I started there was a marked difference, although mine wasn't as bad as yours, no flu symptoms. However, it lingered for ages and I ended up on antibiotics for 4 weeks. Make sure you shower daily and then tap dry thoroughly and air the wound for at least half hour a day, and if you have an overhang physically lift it to air it, otherwise it will likely return. Try not to pull/stretch this area to make sure it's fully healed.

It takes a few days for them to start to make a difference.
With our 4mth old I had 2 weeks of antibiotics to clear an infection, I also had a surgical seroma which kept leaking until about 8wk post partum. I felt pretty normal from 6wk pp and I had scar rupture from my 1st c-section too with heavy blood loss and felt awful until my iron levels were back to normal. I was back in the gym weightlifting at 10wk pp so didn't do too bad tbh. 1st couple of periods pp really knocked me for 6 though, much more painful and heavy than I expected but back to normal now.
