Hi All
I am currently 21 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby.
I havent even had a midwife appointment yet. I made them.aware I was pregnant at 6 weeks and had my initial intro phone call, however haven't heard from.them.since!
Have you ladies had regular appointments? I feel like it's another COVID excuse that they are not looking after us pregnant women properly. I was also under the mental health midwife team during my 1st pregnancy so I thought they would have at least been in touch.

I had my 8 week appointment over the phone and then they sent the home birth team round to do the bloods, as they do their appointments at women’s houses anyway.
I have my 16 week appointment this Wednesday but it’s been rescheduled once already. My bloods were rescheduled in the clinic 3 times before they sent the home birth team.
I had my scan though, I’m assuming you’ve had that? Can you call them and ask, I think there’s a 24 week one (or somewhere thereabouts) you should be booked in for?

Ginfilledcats · 12/12/2021 21:07

I was pregnant through lockdown "the original" lol. Had all the normal ones:
8 weeks booking in at hospital, face to face
12 week scan in hospital
16 week community midwife appt in gp
20 week scan
25, 30, 35, 37, 38, 39, week community mw appt in gp
Went into labour in my due date.

You might have slipped through the net. Have you registered with a maternity dept in a hospital? You have to refer yourself these days, your gp doesn't generally do it any more.

I'd call your local unit in the morning and ask!

Best of luck x

Are you saying you’ve not had you 12 or 20 weeks scan?

Have you chased it up? It’s likely an error rather than a purposeful ploy to give you bad care.

Motherofcats007 · 12/12/2021 21:14

Where I am you need to make the appointments yourself rather than wait for them to make them for you…. Google the NHS antenatal schedule and ring up your midwife for an appointment

8dpwoah · 12/12/2021 21:15

www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/your-pregnancy-care/your-antenatal-appointments/ this is the general schedule (though note you don't get all of them for second baby, it does mention which ones on here). If you've had your scans that's the main thing I think but would deffo chase up why you didn't have a 16 week appointment

flowersforyou · 12/12/2021 21:24

It seems I'm having appointments coming out of my ears at the moment, surely you should've been seen face to face by now to do a urine test to test for pre-eclampsia? I'm tested every other week with my midwife and have blood tests every 6 weeks (but I have got low iron)

jenn88 · 12/12/2021 21:59

I had 8 week booking in with community midwife at home, will be having 12 week scan next week, will then see midwife again at 16 weeks, then 20 week scan, followed by the rest of the appointments!!! Will also be seeing consultant and having GTT at some point! I know In different areas things are done differently? But I would be following up with your community midwife team!

dexterdexter · 12/12/2021 22:04

I'm also 21 weeks and so far I've had:

5 week dating scan
7 week further scan to check for heartbeat
10 week booking app with midwife
12 week scan
16 week telephone app with midwife (I had to chase this one up!)
20 week scan

I've now got a 25 week midwife app booked.

I've found that my apps for scans / at hospital are well organised but I have to personally chase up and book the ones with the community midwives!

BobbleWobble1 · 12/12/2021 22:18

Almost 36 weeks with second baby. Low risk pregnancy.

I self referred to community midwives and have booking over the phone around 9 weeks then bloods etc the following week.
12 week scan and bloods
16 weeks face to face with midwife at GP surgery
20 week scan
28 weeks face to face with midwife at GP
Growth scan the following week as measuring small but no issues
34 weeks with the midwife at GP
36 weeks with the midwife at home as surgery slots full
36 week scan this week (standard in my trust)

All the midwife appointments I booked myself.

Thank you everyone for your messages and taking the time to reply x

I'll chase them up tomorrow as I might have slipped through the net by the sounds of things!

Hope all you're pregnancies are going well 🙏

Hello OP!

Definitely chase. I slipped through the net after my midwife left the country at 14 weeks 😅 thankfully I chased them up (but not too 28 weeks mind!).

In my county (Cheshire west) you have:
Booking appointment (ideally 8-11 weeks)
12 week scan
16 week midwife appointment
20 week scan
24 week appointment if first pregnancy.
28 week midwife appointment
31 week midwife appointment
34 week midwife appointment
36 week midwife appointment
38 week midwife appointment
Then weekly appointments til baby arrives.

Good luck! X

SomeEnchantedEvening18 · 12/12/2021 23:19

I'm in Scotland so depends where you are but I had:

8 week booking appointment (online video appointment)
12 week scan
20 week scan- they advised me at this scan to call the GP and book in for a face to face with the midwife at 22 weeks
22 weeks- met the midwife at my GP for routine urine test and bp/general discussion on how the pregnancy was going/listen to heartbeat

I am currently 25 weeks and will next see my midwife at 28 weeks and then again at 32 weeks and from then on I'm actually not sure!!

Best to chase it up anyway, good luck!

I recently had a booking in appointment at 8 weeks, first by phone and then a quick in person appointment the next day where they checked by height, weight and blood pressure and gave me paperwork to get the bloods.

I have a further scan booked at 13 weeks and one more face to face appointment booked at 16 weeks, not sure about after that.
