Think I'm Having An Early Miscarriage

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place, or why I'm even posting to be honest lol I'm around 5 weeks pregnant and I started bleeding with cramps yesterday. It got fairly heavy and bright red this morning and is now brown and the cramps have somewhat subsided. I know it's just a waiting game but I really don't know what to do until I can call the doctor tomorrow. Didn't realise I would feel so sad about it so early on.

You could take a pregnancy test.

It doesn't matter how early or late this happens, let yourself feel how you feel xx

I’m going through the same thing. 6 weeks and started bleeding and cramping 3 days ago. It has subsided but I’m too eager for my 8 week scan on the 22nd and will be booking something this week to see what’s going on

Bleeding doesn't seem to be as clear cut as you'd expect in early pregnancy. While there is, sadly, a significant chance you've miscarried, there are also other things like a hematoma that may cause very significant bleeds. I thought I'd lost LO at 6 weeks as I was flooding a pad every hour one evening But they showed up on the scan a week later, with a neighbouring bleed that has since reduced.
I don't want to get your hopes up, as obviously often it is a MC. But a number of us in the June group have had reasonably large bleeds and are still in there. Others have, sadly, not. There's a small chance it's not over.

@lunaluvgood I'm sorry to hear you're going through the same thing, it's awful not knowing and I think you can think about it all day but it only really helps to speak about it, even just typing a message about it helps I think x

@RoseValleyRambles thank you for taking the time to reply, I have a serious addiction to googling everything which I know you're not supposed to lol, but I'm holding out a tiny bit of hope that this is just one of those early pregnancy things 🙂 if not I definitely won't be testing so early in the future 😅 x

Useful stuff to know: 5 weeks may be too early to see much on a scan, and often you'll continue to test positive after a MC for a week or two.

I hope it's good news. It's an awful thing to go through and it's ok to feel sad even at this stage. Hugs.

Hope your OK! Just wanted to give a positive story, with my first pregnancy I started bleeding very heavily at 6 and a half weeks, was told to expect a miscarriage. Next day bleeding turned brown and was sent for a scan, their was my baby with a heart beat, they never found the cause for my bleeding but everything was fine and OK, she is now a beautiful 6 year old. I was so sure I was having a miscarriage. I know it's hard but just hold on bevause it's not always bad news. My mum also had heavy bleeding whilst pregnant with me at 9 weeks. I hope everything turns out okay for you! X

I'm so glad you had a positive outcome, it definitely helps give a bit of hope 💞 My cramps are pretty bad now so I think what's done is done, but I'm very grateful nonetheless ☺️

I also had some bleeding around 6 weeks and I had an early scan to show a little bean with a heart beat. My little girl is now 10 months old!

@user38764345 aw I'm so happy that you had a lovely outcome out of what must have been a very scary time-the unknown really is trying! It's nice to know it doesn't always mean the worst is coming 😊 I know it's tmi but the bleeding is very sporadic now but I'm very crampy, feel like I would rather just know so I can enjoy Christmas🙈💖

I had bleeding (with bright red blood) for a few hours at 5w4d and lots of cramping for about a week afterwards. I was convinced it was a miscairrage and felt absolutely devastated and couldn't stop crying. I wasn't able to get a scan until 7w so the wait was agonising and it was some of the worst 10 days of my life. Luckily it was good news for now and they could see a heartbeat although it is still early days and I am trying not to get too excited yet in case something still goes wrong.

I hope you have good news too! Thinking of you in the meantime.

Let yourself feel sad. It doesn't matter how early a miscarriage is, it's still so upsetting and horrible. Xxxx

I think there are so many mixed emotions and it's hard to try and distract yourself while wondering what's going on in the background 😣 I think if it continues to be bright/dark red with pain I'm not going to hold out too much hope but stranger things have happened 🥰 all the best wishes to you ✨

Took a pregnancy test and it's negative so I think I have my answer, I'm just happy to know now and really wish the cramps would bugger off 🤭 thank you everyone for your messages and support! 💖✨
