Newborn will be fine. Tiny baby is for preemies, 37+ is considered full term

My DS was 8 and a half pounds when he was born by ELCS at 38 weeks. I would wait to see what size your baby is. Newborn will probably be fine.

I had 1 at 38 weeks, DD1 was 8lb 10.5oz she was in newborn for about a week or so but she was more lanky than anything
DD2 was born 39weeks at 8lb 2.5oz and was in newborn for a while

They were both born on the 100th centile haha
May be worth just getting one pack of tiny baby sleepsuits and vests just incase Smile

Mine was 7lb14 at 38 weeks section - newborn was perfect. You won’t need tiny baby unless baby is predicted to be particularly small.

I’m also having a c section at 38 weeks and have bought mainly up to 1 month, I figured if baby is particularly small then DH can go and buy some newborn clothes on his way home and bring them in the next day.

My baby was 6lb 10 at 35 weeks (ivf so certain of dates). I'd get newborn size.

Had dd at 37 and needed tiny baby, she was a tiny 5lb5

Haiyaa · 12/12/2021 22:49

Had a section at 38 weeks, measured normal size the whole way through, DD was 11lbs1oz…. Straight into 0-3 months! I’d bring newborn and perhaps one slightly larger outfit just in case, but that’s just my experience so not realistic for everyone!

DD2 was born at 38 weeks on the 11th percentile weighing 6lb 6oz and was in tiny baby for a while, but newborn would have been refectory adequate to get her home from the hospital. I’d say get newborn and if baby is smaller than expected you can easily do an online order etc, which is easier than returning stuff if baby is on the larger side x

Perfectly adequate^

I had my little girl five days ago at 37+3 (was almost induced due to sga but went naturally). She was exactly 6lb and I only needed tiny baby for her as newborn is way too large. We were expecting a small baby as my previous two had also been small. My sister on the other hand had her baby at 37+3 and newborn clothes were absolutely fine for him. I would pack newborn and if you do need something smaller you can always order some/have some brought in.

Mine was 10lbs 4 at 37 weeks! He still fit in newborn so I think you’ll be ok!
