Coil after a C-section

Has anyone had a copper coil fitted right after a C-section? My doctor was asking me if I wanted to have one fitted as it would be possible during my C-section. I know it's probably the most effective type of contraception, but I'm not sure I'd want it at this stage. I know it might sound strange, but my husband and I have always only used condoms and we've been together for 14 years. No pregnancy scare ever. I think they want to make sure that another pregnancy does not happen soon after the first... but yeah I'm unsure about the coil.

I've had a copper coil for the last 16 years (well multiple, and not when we were trc obviously). But I was told to wait 3 months after my c section (emergency if it makes a difference - I guess it does in terms of prep and what's on hand!).

I've had 2 sections, I had a copper coil for about a year but it didn't agree with me, I'm now on my second mirena, no problems.

Wish I was! Would of much rather get it done then, than 3 months after!

I had an emergency section so I didn’t get offered one but if I had the choice I would have had one fitted. I’m having it fitted next week and dreading it so having it at the same time as the section would have been so ideal. We’ve been using condoms since DD was born 6m ago and hate them as we’re not used to them. But if you’re happy using them, just decline the coil, it’s absolutely your choice.

I've had four sections, I have never been offered the coil. After my third they suggested I get sterilised during the c section but I said no and went on to have a fourth baby and had it done during that one instead. My other option was the coil but that wasn't offered during the c section.
