False negative pregnancy test

Has anyone had a false negative pregnancy test before??
I'm 6 days late and took a clear blue test yesterday which said 'not pregnant'. I've been feeling like my period is coming for over a week now.
I have poly-cystic ovary syndrome but for the last 11 months have been very regular and not had a cycle longer than 35 days as I track all my cycle lengths. So seems strange.
Have a DS who is 2 and still breast feeding so not sure if that has affected things?
Would live to hear your thoughts

Do you track/confirm ovulation? If not I would probably say you've ovulated later than you thought (or not at all yet) and your period isn't 'late', just not yet due.

Hi, yes thanks I do although not as accurately this month. I do know the day I ovulated (or not) pretty accurately though and this would still put me 3-4 days late with period. Going to take a more sensitive test tomorrow - first response and see what it says

Yes! I didn't get a positive until I was 8 weeks. I knew from week 3 I was pregnant. I had a negative test so I put it all my reasons of thinking it to the back of my head.
Weeks 7, I suddenly wanted to chew balloons and I ate the sky remote battery cover thingy in my sleep. Thats when I had a positive test.
My baby will be 8 in 3 weeks!

Hey OP,

I am in a very similar position to you although from sight my different circumstances.

I stopped taking the pill on the 5th November and had a light period from the 8th to the 10th/11th November. I have never been regular because of what they believe to be endometriosis / adenomyosis. When not on birth control I am always on between

Part two. Sorry phone is playing up.

When I am not on birth control I normal bleed between every two weeks and 4 weeks I never know when it is due as it's very rare I get PMS symptoms.

According to Flo 4 weeks was Monday and there had been no sign of AF. I have been feeling pretty constant nausea ever since Monday along with achy boobs, lower back pain (injured my hips and neck in an accident last year and so they do cause me pain) and also abdominal cramps but they feel like a tugging sensation and totally different to normal period cramps.

I have taken 5 tests now and all negative. I did two on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning and then I did on this afternoon and they have all been negative.

Going to try again in the morning but am totally stumped as to what is going on.

Sorry to hear about your difficulties. Have you been to your Gp for further testing? I'm using the clear blue ovulation test kit - expensive but helps you track if you are ovulating or not. Update is period turned up 6 days late so not pregnant this time!!

I have rang the doctors this morning and still no sign of AF and still getting constant pregnancy symptoms but al negative pregnancy tests.

It's so incredibly frustrating but hoping for answers before heading home for Christmas

@Gillseybear it can take a few months for your hormones to settle down after coming off the pill, so given you only stopped taking it a few weeks ago it doesn't sound too unusual that you haven't had a period yet. If it'll settle your mind give the GP a call, but they'll probably just tell you it's normal and to get in touch if you still haven't had a period after a few months.

Yes it's normal and it's what happened last time I came of off the pill.
However, I had a lighter than normal period between the 8th and 11th of November. Then I have not had one since and to join that I have all the pregnancy symptoms. So hence why I am confused. I have contacted my doctors Thursday last week and they said get in contact this week if there has been no change. So I rang them this morning and I am waiting to hear back from them

Hi there

Been ttc. Last 6 months cycle have been regular and on time. Give or take a day. Last cycle we tried. All the wY until few days post the app saying ovulation day. Today is d1 pf missed period and my test 2 days ago and today are negative. Any one test positive a few days later after a negative on d1 missed period ? Used one of the cheap ones they had at the clinic.
