Anyone’s anxiety / depression in pregnancy lift after birth?

Have been having the most horrific anxiety / panic / depression since the start of the 3rd trimester & at 36 weeks it feels unbearable. So debilitating I seem to cry with panic every day - seeing a therapist & discussing potentially starting medication

Did anyone have this & then feel better after the birth ? I’m praying some of this is just hormones - I’ve never felt this bad before ever

Hi, I am expecting something similar at the moment but I am only 24 weeks. It is absolutely horrendous. I am also considering going on the meds but worry that it will make me more anxious about potential harm to the baby that the meds can cause. I’ve been told that some of it might be casued by under active thyroid. Have you had your TSH tested ? I hope that someone will comment on here and say it will lift after the birth ! At least you are almost at the end xx

I also found this old thread which gave me a lot of hope www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2537430-Anyone-with-antenatal-anxiety-please-read

Yes, mine did. I was almost suicidal during pregnancy but the minute she was here I felt a lot better. She's four months now and it's an ongoing struggle with mental health but I have a lot of support and I find the joy of having her with me outweighs the hard parts!

Thanks for sharing that other thread @Ania89 it's a comforting read. I am only 12 weeks and feeling extremely low. Not yet summoned the will to tell my midwife but I think I will.
