Mild cramps day of expected period then BFP

Hi, I wanted to see what people think is going on when you get mild cramps on the day you expect your period... Then get a BFP. This happened to me, and I'm wondering if it indicates that activity is going on in the uterus/the fertilised egg made it there and implanted etc?

I had an ectopic pregnancy previously and didn't have these mild cramps at the time my period would have been due. But as that was in the tube, it's quite different to an intrauterine pregnancy.

I've got a scan at 7 weeks 6 days (currently 5 weeks 2 days).... But I know a lot of mum's seem to have had this mild cramping as if their period will come and then they got their BFP. Do you think it could be a positive thing? Hopefully it means mine made it to the uterus as I didn't experience it last time :)

Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Wishing everyone the absolute best in their pregnancies and sending lots of love and positive energy to people ttc xxx

@TianaC

So not sure if this is helpful or not but AF was due five days ago. I had what I thought was cramps to indicate the start of AF that started on Friday and have continued since. They were even worse on Monday when AF was due.
Ever since Monday I have been suffering with awful nausea and other pregnancy symptoms but when I test I keep getting BFN's
This whole process is so frustrating I am going to do another test on Sunday morning as I did one today and it was negative. The doctors have not been much help either which is frustrating.
Hope you get answers soon and here if you need anything

Hiya congratulations

I've had and still have cramps from 2ww and I'm now 7wks so I think it's a good sign

Some have been fairly strong and have made me worried but I had a scan 6+3 for reassurance more than anything as I felt no symptoms - I have symptoms now and another scan booked at 8wks - for me the scans reassure me even though it's still early days
X

@Bubblemonkey Congratulations and thanks for sharing! Looks like some mild cramping in the uterus area is a good sign then!

@Gillseybear Thanks so much for sharing! It's so nice to have a community here isn't it, especially when professionals don't always have the answers. It's just nice to talk things through here. If you're not usually that late it sounds like maybe you just need to wait a bit to test. From what I've heard that's normal too. I really hope you get answers soon hun!

@strawberrysummer19 thanks so much for sharing your experience, and that you think it's a good sign. I'm definitely trying not to make any negative comparisons with my previous ectopic (recently had a small bit of diarrhea... which I know is normal in pregnancy) but I am trying a bit to see any differences which can potentially indicate to me the fertilised egg implanted in the right place this time. And not having that mild cramping feeling last time was a difference for me. Plus it's good to know many people seem to have had it and gone on to have healthy pregnancies like you. I know it'll be our scan that will tell me for sure, but just got to keep the hope and positive vibes up until then. I really appreciate you sharing your experience and that you feel like it's a good sign. I've only had a few little feelings since then, I had a kind of tug feeling but it felt like just below my belly button. I'm sure it's in my uterus this time, I just have a feeling. You've really made me feel better thank you hun! Sending you lots of positive energy for your pregnancy xxx

I had what I thought was pms pains for a 2 weeks prior to finding out I was pregnant, I was 5 weeks when I had my bfp. I continued having cramps for a fair few weeks afterwards.

Gillseybear · 10/12/2021 21:44

@TianaC yeah I know exactly what you mean and I feel exactly the same. I was speaking to somebody I know and she said it took her until she was 8 weeks pregnant before she got her BFP and so I know there might be a wait.

My cycles have never been regular because I have suspected endometriosis/ adenomyosis and so I have all sorts of problems. Plus I have had two previous MC's at around the 6 week mark and so I am starting to panic a bit which is not helping. Although I feel exactly the same as I did the first time I was pregnant before I had a MC

I love this site as it stops me from over thinking everything and helps settle my anxiety

furbabymama87 · 10/12/2021 22:01

Normal. I had it in all my pregnancies, even very light bleeding on the day period was meant to come.

TianaC · 13/12/2021 09:25

@fallhappy1 @furbabymama87 Thanks so much for sharing! I had some mild ones yesterday just the dull type (at 5weeks 4 days) but I'm glad it sounds like it's a positive thing then as it shows some activity is going on in there! I didn't have this with my ectopic, as it wasn't in the uterus. Just got cramping with the bleeding when it resolved the pregnancy at around 8 weeks. But that was bad cramping. I'm really glad this time it sounds like normal and would be a good sign signalling a normal pregnancy in the uterus :)

I really appreciate your thoughts about it all.

@Gillseybear I hope you're doing okay! Yeah I love that too, as we can check on things and see if they're normal etc. and all come together and share our experiences :) I know what you mean about having a previous loss, we have an ectopic at about 8 weeks in October this year, so it wasn't too long ago, and I'm making sure to be positive and know that this pregnancy is going to go well. I think thinking positive thoughts can really help :)

Hi OP it's very common - in fact mine were so bad I kept convincing my DP I didn't have a BFP after all because AF was surely do to show any second Grin I also have a little brown spotting at 5-6 weeks which was very light and just lasted a few days. I'm now 37 weeks so try not to worry too much at the moment! (Easier said than done I totally understand.) wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months

TianaC · 13/12/2021 10:56

@zeromango Thank you so much! It really helped hearing that. And good to hear those cramps around day of expected period seem to indicate a healthy pregnancy in the uterus from everyone I've heard from. I definitely have more anxiety after the ectopic I had, but I'm really confident this time it's all good.

I really appreciate you taking the time to send that message. We have a scan 2 weeks tomorrow :)

I have really bad constipation so that's a good sign, I've had that since 7dpo though and it was so so bad then. Thanks so much again!! xxx
