Hi everyone! Just thought I'd ask this and see if anyone has some advice.

So I'm about 5 weeks pregnant and for the last 4-5 months my skin has just got worse and worse. I really do believe wearing the masks has contributed to it (especially since my acne literally goes in a line like my mask) but I also am aware that hormones will play a huge part.

I've been told that because I am pregnant I'm not allowed to take certain medication for adult acne, and there are also certain creams I can't use too.

Has anyone got any advice as to what would be good products to try?

I should really mention that I have tried SO MANY THINGS, including:

  1. various products from tropic
  2. boots ingredients products
  3. tea tree oil
  4. vitamin c products
  5. vitamin d products
  6. benzoyl peroxide

You get the gist 😂😂 any ideas would be very much appreciated!!

Xx

Hi!

I am also in the same boat. I’ve got hormonal acne and have monthly flare ups but the last 2 months have been really bad. Had been seeing a dermatologist because of it but had to stop all medication because I found out I was pregnant! Mine is also around the mask area. Mask have not helped but I’ve been avoiding make up for months too and it’s not getting any better. I am using benzoyl peroxide cream which is not really touching it. It is driving me insane for a feel your pain. I am 8 weeks pregnant.

Sorry, I meant I feel your pain!

@BabyBorn thank you for your reply! It's quite nice to know someone is also in the same boat!

The benzoyl peroxide was working for me but now it's not, and if anything it's just made my skin dry in those sensitive areas.

I've tried salicylic acid, hyaluronic acid, AHA...and absolutely any product with those three active ingredients in. It works for a bit but then I get another huge break out. I'm not trying just tea tree oil from the body shop to see if that makes a difference....I've heard that it's quite good for blemishes. At this point I'll try anything 😂 xx

Hi, yeah I’ve tried all of what you have mentioned too. Also tried an expensive LED light mask!! My acne was really bad in my last pregnancy too! I suppose at this point there is not much we can do as we can’t use harsh things in pregnancy. It really gets you down though doesn’t it! I’m going for steroid injections in my cystic acne blemishes (I’ve got two) on the 17th. It’s apparently safe in pregnancy according to my dermatologist. Thing is, they just glare back up again around the time in my cycle that I would be ovulating! It’s crazy how these things happen.
Let me know if the tea tree works. I’ve heard that it can sometimes aggravate acne x
