Today I found out I was pregnant, I've had 3 early miscarriages in the past year all taking care place between 4 and 5 weeks.

I had a private appointment last week and have been prescribed progesterone pessaries & high dose folic acid from a positive test & been told to take aspirin from 6 weeks.

Any luck on any of these drugs? It's so sad but my initial feeling towards a positive test is no longer excitement it's just fear 😢

Hey @bethamb I hear you! I've had 4 miscarriages - 3/4 occurred at 5 weeks and the other at 6 weeks. It's so so frightening and I'm also on all of the above medication plus a little extra as a blood disorder was found.

All I can say is take every day at a time and where you can afford, get private scans. I'm now 7+5 and this is the furthest I've ever got.... I've had 4 early scans already. I started from 5 weeks 4 and got scanned every 3/4 days. It's made all the difference as I also never get pregnancy symptoms - so an additional worry! I've literally only found seeing everything measuring correctly and a heartbeat the only way to stay calm. (5 weeks 4 I saw a yolk sac - saw the embryo on the subsequent scans). I don't expect to feel excitement to be honest until after my 10 week scan... I think it's a good protective strategy to not get too attached early on. xxx

Congratulations on your pregnancy and I'm so sorry about your losses Flowers. I had my DS then a few years later had 3 miscarriages in a row. The next pregnancy was successful and she's now 10 months. I'd take things a day at a time, it's totally normal to feel more anxious than excited at first. Is there a reason why they've said to take aspirin only from 6 weeks rather than immediately? I took it from my positive pregnancy test (150 mg a day taken at night) with my DD's pregnancy and that was the only change I made so I do put the successful pregnancy down to that (although could just be chance of course). Wishing you all the luck in the world.

Hi OP the only thing I did differently was take 75mg aspirin from BFP after two MCs I have a 3 year old DD and 36 weeks with a little boy. Best of luck Smile

I am currently 33 weeks pregnant following 3 miscarriages. I started progesterone at 4 weeks pregnant And my clinic also prescribed me prednisolone from 6 weeks pregnant and it seems to have worked.

I just found taking it one day at a time was the best, also tried to keep as busy as possible and rightly or wrongly tried to forget it was happening, looking back it definitely passed quickly, didn't feel that way at the time.

@Bertie43 congratulations ❤️ I forgot to mention I've also been prescribed predisonol 4x5mg tablets a day is thst what you were on? Did you have any symptoms from it?

Praying they work Thankyou all for your advice ❤️❤️

Yeah it's was that dose. Fingers crossed it works for you. But can only assume its what did the trick for us.

Good luck x

Sorry I did mean to add, the only symptoms I remember were from the progesterone and that was cramping initially. After about 2 weeks it definitely eased off.

@Bertie43 if you don't mind me asking, on your miscarriages did it take long to fall pregnant? I fall every time I try but can't stay pregnant so worried that it's actually hyper fertility and the medication won't work anyway :(

I pretty much fell every other month if that makes sense. I had one period after each miscarriage and then fell again.

bethamb · 12/12/2021 17:22

@Bertie43 same as me! And how far on did you get? I seem to lose by 5 weeks x

They were all between 5-6 weeks.

bethamb · 12/12/2021 17:51

@Bertie43 did you ever find out the reason? X

No, I had been referred to the miscarriage clinic after my 3rd loss, but had only had a telephone consultation with them before this pregnancy. I contacted them when I was pregnant and they helped with all the above meds. I am 41 was 40 when I got pregnant so kind of put it down to my age.
